Mafell Z5EC Have 2 questions
The bottom of the casting, that holds a flip-handle, is broken off. I believe the casting is magnesium. Anyone had a Mafell magnesium part break off and fixed it? Can I use 2 part epoxy or does it need to be brazed?
This broken part does not affect the operation of the tool as it's just there to help carry the bandsaw, but you don't even need the bottom handle to carry it. I carry with just the top handles. The new ones don't even have the bottom handle.
Mine has the flip up handle like shown below.
Below pictures are of mine
The new Z5ec bandsaws do not have a handle, they just have a rubber stop like shown below.
Are there less costly alternative sources for blades?

Thanks for the reply
Yeah I kinda figured the answer to my problem was going to be that it's hard.
I have a dedicated high quality tig welder but I am not proficient enough in Tig welding, having only taken vocational college courses on it, but never welded professionally. I am leary of welding because of how much heat it puts into the base metal, so I thought brazing might be an option. I don't have any experience brazing. If I was to braze I would find someone who was good at it.
I emailed Mafell in Germany asking them what I can do to fix it.
Is there something unique about Mafell Z5ec blades? I will buy from the English link you provided unless I can find a source here in the US.

Brazing and welding is almost the same, main difference of metal or alloy used, Magnesium isn't going to weld easily, as once it reaches melting- joining temps it literally does so in big chunks, like aluminium, leaving brazing as good as glueing... not good at all...
Blades? AFAIK main feature of Mafell saws is "double edged", just like jigsaw blades unique- perfected design, hence expensive. If you'll find suitable copy- great, if not even a single edged will work just fine, just like normal jigsaws do, but depends what work you intend to do with it- (again, same as jigsaw) will have more tendency to wonder off 90* and will apply bit more lateral force on the guides of the saw
EDIT (again): do have a look around, who has Laser welder and experience working with aluminium, as Mafell most likely to offer parts fiche and to buy whole housing option...
