First post here and I'm considering jumping into the Mafell pool with a DDF40. It will mainly be for putting 5mm adjustable shelf holes in wardrobes and cabinets. I've read every thread here and on FOG and need a bit more input in regards to the accuracy of the DDF40 with and without the guiderails.
Is the DDF accurate enough without the guiderails to put shelf pin holes in 6' tall wardrobe panels?
I've heard the LR32 system is difficult to set up, but it seems like it might be a bit more versatile as I don't build with dowels at the moment. I don't want to turn this into a This vs That type of post, but just hoping for some experience from those that have used it for something similar.
Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome, honedltd. I've only ever used it with the rail, for shelf holes - 100% accuracy. I've also drilled 32mm center-center hardware holes with it, using the fence and extendable stop arm - again, 100% accuracy. I would have no real concerns with it's accuracy, from my experience - BUT, if all you're going to do with it is drill shelf holes, and not dowel as well, I'd be looking out for a small, used multi borer. A couple of years ago I lucked out and scored a Blum mini-press, in excellent condition for AU$600. (I was in the right place at the right time - they usually go for at least AU$2000 down here on the used market)
