Hello there I am considering an Erica or possible festool tks 80 table saw .. I use both systems tending to stick to mafell for saws , and track saws let’s face it mafell track and crosscut saws are so much better . however I do have the festool kepex 120 which is a great mitre saw plus festool routers etc .. anyway although the saw stop is a nice feature I am not bothered about it as having run a joinery for 23 years with 4 joiners and no accidents I tend to think good practise and care is as safe as you can be . I am closing my joinery and selling off my big kit hence the interest in a small table saw it will be used on site only where I have a large project barn conversion or house build etc . All other times it will be in the workshop where I hope it will function as a accurate table saw with some panel work but all large sheets will be broken down initially by my track saw . so I will be making small scale cabinets and general joinery for my projects mainly one off houses as I have now shut my commercial joinery . As mentioned I already have the kepex 120 and a selection of mafell crosscut and rail saws . which saw in your opinion would suit me best ? many thanks .

Hi, they're not really the same saw, the TKS doesn't have the pull function, better to compare the Mafell Erika (60, 70 or 85 mm cut) to the Festool Precisio (50 or 70 mm cut).
I only have the Erika 85 and Precisio 50, so not a like for like comparison, and each has their merits.
If you don't need to be regularly carrying it up stairs and the intended use is mainly joinery, the Erika 85 wins hands down.

Hi Tazio! I'd suggest that you'll get siginificantly more utility out of an ERIKA than you would from the TKS. I appreciate that the TKS has the blade stopping technology, but I'd suggest that so long as you're using push sticks/blocks and properly plan your work flow, the flesh-sensing technology should be a mute point. I sold my Kapex and have been using a ERIKA 70 for roughly 6 years now and haven't looked back. If I had to start over, I'd get a ERIKA 85, the 1m MFA fence, a couple stops, and this step-up converter (for use on 120V in USA): www.voltage-converter-transformers.com/products/vt-4000-step-up-down-transformer-4000-watts The ERIKA saws are a GREAT pairing with a KSS-style saw, and/or a track saw.
