Hello Mafell-using community.
Just bought me a second hand, fairly clean P1CC. My very first bit of Mafell goodness. When I first fired it up with, I think, the W1 blade that was in the box and tried to make a cut the blade pulled out mid-cut. I guessed I'd not seated it properly and had another go: the same. It eventually settled down and I could make a few test cuts to see what the machine was like. I later tried some long blades and a tougher bit of sawing in the shape of 100mm oak and the blade pulled out again.
Is this something anyone else has heard of?
Any thoughts much appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

It happened to me a couple of times in the early days - a bit fast putting the blade in and not seating enough before clamping in place. Try to properly seat the blade before closing the lever.

Thanks aas.
Glad to hear (weirdly) that someone else had the same problem. Though when it was still happening cutting the big stuff I was paying particular attention to getting it in just right (or so I thought) and it was still doing it.
The guy I bought it off suggested it didn't like poorer quality blades (who does?) but the profile and thickness should be identical.
I'm worried the clamping system might be worn in some way. Does anyone know what's actually happening up in there? I'd rather not take it apart just yet....

I've never noticed a difference with poorer quality blades - I try not to buy any, but have a few knocking around. I seem to recall it happened with a W1 too, maybe the thicker shaft is harder seat.

Recently the blades are not coming out. I might order a new set of the collet/chuck bits... dunno.

Is the blade holding mechanism accessible, cleanable, serviceable? That would be great! I haven't investigated the tool yet.

AFAIK do not start spraying no chemicals on mechanism as it's only small bushes away from most peculiar /fancy grease it uses inside

I'm not that bad because I have kept the manual, it's never been opened though... thanks, I must have a look at this.

Opened up the blade holding section and gave it a good clean. Having seen the inside of it it's clear how it holds the blade and that, if properly seated, there should be no way for the blade to come out (there's metal above and beneath the T). So I can't see any reason I should have any problems now. Thanks all.

Well had a few pull outs before the stuck part... so I think it foul the mechanism if too much debris is caught in there.
