Hey does anyone else have a problem with plunge cutting with they're KSS 40? 9 out of 10 times I had a violent kickback. Scared of using that feature now. I sand and refinish wood floors and have made thousands of plunge cuts and this thing scares me. I'm thinking the riving knife might be twisting sideways. It seems stiff to push in and I never had a circular saw with a riving knife or a plunge mechanism like this.

Don't own the KSS40 but just out of curiosity I'm wondering about the scenario... if say you were cutting out T&G floorboards for a repair and the cut separated the concealed tongue from the board (but tongue is still captive, unglued in the adjoining untouched board), that tongue could be drawn in to pinch blade before the riving knife is exposed to an open kerf and could drop down as the cut progresses (?)

No it should be smooth, no kick back. Make sure you have the right blade for what you are cutting, the saw is held firm and the trunion bars are clean and dust free. I've done loads of plunge cuts without problems.
