I think mafell will be fine if they stick to their guns in timber framing, with a handful of smaller tools to catch some cross over euros.. they've played a blinder with cas.. if you want battery, you can get it with metabo and the rest of them. They should just carry on concentrating on offering tools for people who make houses where there's loads of wood.. Russia, eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Canada? Aus? ..not japan.. not sure where that stands in the U.S.. but trying to break into the US spice rack market would be mad.. ...who can blame them for not releasing a battery jigsaw.. It's the same with festool cxs.. everyone desperate for the brushless.. as long as they can sell you a £50 motor instead of a £5 brush, it's never gonna happen..festool were genius here..one thing for certain - everyone who owns a cxs (me included) will at some point be paying up that £50

"the Bosch batteries are good, the Fein batteries are huge." Bosch ProCore 5.5ah - 1 kg, Bosch ProCore 4ah - 610g. Fein 5.2ah -750g, Fein 3ah - 450g. Ah yes I forgot about Procore... I have 6ah 'normal' batts from both and was doing a straight comparison.

As a 'society' we are heading full steam at huge economic problems; the upheavel of the last two years is the tip of the iceberg, and if you believe this is an unfortunate by product of the world being locked down, or you believe the is being engineered - it doesn't matter - it's still going to happen.
Inflationary pressures are huge - I have suppliers announcing anywhere from 3 to 20% increase on products - delays have gone from days to months; the new normal is that you pay and STFU we will deliver when we want to.
At some point Mafell, Fein etc., will have to increase prices as everyone else has to - we go into in a upwards spiral of price increases and small / medium business reduce capital outlay as it becomes a daily fight to keep up with rising costs.
Secondhand tools ( cars, trucks too... ) are holding their value, and will start going up in price as their relative price to new ( and not available anyway ) is becoming more and more attractive.
Mafell only need to lose 25% of their sales and prices need to go up again to cover this and at some point they sell or throw in the towel.
I hope I'm wrong...

aas"If the news about Fein in Australia is not mainstream, I'd sell off quick and buy replacements that will be supported." I might wait until the new Mafell drills are released and check them out. This all started because I wanted a lighter, faster impact driver, so tried to order the Fein 12v. Finally got onto the rep, who told me that it wasn't available here. Ended up getting the festool TID18, which I'm really happy with so far.

I wasn't aware Mafell had new drills coming out... they've already said the A10M won't be replaced with brushless.
As an asides, I have a few tools I'd like to get rid of, since last year not a lot of interest, which is unusual, I've always done pretty well selling on tools.
I'll wait and see what gives with the Bosch / Fein link up before getting rid of the Fein.

I seem to remember that the poster said that Mafell are going it alone - ie. not rebranding an existing drill/working with someone else.
