I don't know how I'd never noticed this saw before,it seems to have been out for about six months, anyhow it looks a beauty, around the same depth of cut as the kss 50,designed for the FSN rails(pivots exactly around the splinter guard),less than 1/3 the cost of the kss50 (£308 with two 5Ah batteries),also, for the guys in North America&Oz., the bare saw is widely available.

Hi skinnee I looked at this saw prob 6 months ago and really liked it I’ve got the gks85g corded it’s a brute of a machine but runs in exactly the same place as mafell on guide rails so I guess this would too . Really like the gks saws as a whole and this one especially was definitely put together better than the metabo in my opinion . I would have bought it straight away when I first saw it advertised what stopped me was the fact I’ve not got any Bosch 18v machines and it would mean buying that as a complete kit . Like I’ve mentioned I really don’t need another saw or new battery platform and to be honest bought the 57 on a whim really if they had a machine at the show I bought it from I probably wouldn’t . But this machine I do remember thinking was really good would definitely be my choice if I had the battery’s .

Ironically yes it does pivot right on the splinter strip my 85 does too “ you may have read mt55 thread on this ? Plus they do 6.3 ah battery’s now I believe .

an update on this saw, ordered one but was not impressed so returned it.i found quite a bit of movement between base and saw body even when locked down at full depth.movement was more pronounced with the saw body raised, this has to affect the cut quality.once again this saw did not align with original splinter guards on FSN rails,it was offset by around 1mm.with the new information regarding adjustability on the base of metabo LTX57 it would be a much better choice.

Thanks for that skinee you are right they may look ok but you do need to touchy feely in my opinion . Will be interesting to see if base can be adjusted my 57 has not been returned yet umm !! Although build quality is the put off .

Although build quality is the put off . It's never going to be a finish saw, it's pretty light weight and feels 'cheap'... it depends what you want/need it for. For rough cutting, it seems ideal. It's the price of a couple of Mafell blades. I haven't had the time to line it up to the F-rails, if there is enough adjustment to get it close - then there's nothing to complain about. The base seems well made, and it's one of the most important parts of the tool. I've had in the past some 'well made' tools with pressed steel bases. Parallel registration from the blade - non-existant!.. As for the rest, I wasn't expecting top quality for 189€ inc Metaloc and delivery!
