Made my first 'real' cuts using the Aerofix, tonight. This is a panel I glued up on the weekend, to cut doors out of for a built in I'm working on. It's a 12mm MDF substrate, with 4mm thick recycled Messmate planks glued to each side. (Rolled on TB2, then pressed it under some 16mm board, clamped with straight edges etc). I made the horizontal cuts first, with a standard 2100 rail, then lipped with 3mm timber. Then I squared the rail and made my first Aerofix cut, then just measured, marked, cut. Worked extremely well, so much easier than clamping. It 'held' very well on the timber, which was sanded to 120 grit at this stage - though I could lift it and reposition if I wanted to. I'm sure it will hold even better on finished/melamine/laminate sheets etc.

From left to right, underside of aerofix at vacuum connections, sliding plate on aerofix underside to adjust suction to your workpiece, sliding plate removed and flipped to be used with standard F track and top mounted vac attachment (not shown). Just thought i'd give you more deets on this system. I have to say I'm really liking it so far, I find the hose to the saw is less in the way and no where near as snaggy as the standard anti static hose that came with my Festool vac Am looking to purchase the aerofix ,your pictures helped with the details .Is it possible to remove the under mount system to store the aerofix rail in the guide pocket ? Reworked one of your photos GhostFist ,

Yes, it is. You would have to be careful of the small fixing screw though - would be easy to lose. It's a great accessory, highly recommended.

Do you already have the MT55, Joe? - Or are you going to use one of your existing saws on the rails? The 'position indicator' is also a great accessory for the 55, if you do plunge cuts.

No on the MT55 ,will try the kss 400 with a laminate blade on the f rails first .The MF26 is in the running for a finish or 2nd Fix tracksaw ,has more function but no bevel.Decisions.....Decisions!!

Working on a very modern kitchen with numerous end panels and wall panels ,all are satin Black with a rub through finish . The Aerofix rail with the MF26 is working better than expected . Super clean cuts with no chipping ,and no clamping .
Job well done to the Mafell design team on these two great tools , bloody expensive to purchase , yet worth the price.

Has anyone cut theirs down? It's too short for 1200mm (4ft) sheets, and way too long for 600mm (2ft) panels. I'm thinking about trimming it for 600mm panels, and I'd like to have a built in adjustable square on the underneath hose connector, so I can put it straight on a panel and know I'm cutting at 90 degrees - not worried about other angles.

I'm considering cutting mine down just because I rarely ever buy full sheets of anything and would enjoy the extra maneuverability more than the extra length, but in your particular case I'd probably just extend it with an F80. I nabbed one of those gigantic triangles from Woodpeckers the last time they did a run and the combination of that and the Aerofix is the fastest path to perfectly square cuts I've tried so far.

I want to cut it down, then add the F80 when needed for 1200mm cuts, which I rarely do. On a day to day basis, I think it will be of more use to me shorter.

Used my Aerofix with MT55 for cutting polymer/acrylic splashback material last night. Talk about the perfect tool for the job at hand.

From all the photos the Aerofix track looks identical to all other F tack...
Can anyone tell me what, if any, differences there are between the Aerofix supplied track and standard F track ?

Lincoln,
That 'giant triangle' from Woodpeckers... is it ¼" melamine covered hardboard or aluminum ?

It's composite aluminium panel (Alucobond or Di-bond), cut to size on a sliding panel saw.

It's the same profile, it just has the two Aerofix attachments on the bottom - the main part with the hose connectors, and the sliding stainless part for cutting off the end of the vacuum section. I cut mine down, the off cut is identical to other F-rails.

Thanks aas,
The dealers etc. all told me it was a different track/rail even one who contacted mafell for me. But I could plainly see it was the same, I just got hung up on some posts saying they wished the track was longer, so it made me wonder why they didn't just swap vac parts onto longer track.
My experiments using foam & a hillbilly vac attachment have been encouraging so far with regular F track and I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something about any 'uniqueness' of the track supplied with Aero.
