Totally agree with you at the show where I purchased the saw “they had sold out by the way “ there was two engineers /demonstrators from mafell in Germany even they thought it was a bit overkill ,when mine shows up tomorrow it will be going into a systainer and the crosscut rail into a Festool hk rail bag . What am I going to do with the metal coffin who knows ? But I feel your pain

Well that's weird. In some ways an intermittent fault, esp one that may or may not result in a flat battery (& inoperative saw) is worse! I'm sure you carry spares, but it kinda just got even more imperative.

Hi guys well kss turned up today all looks marvellous spoke to Nathan “nma “again today about battery discharge issues and he said that mafell Germany were checking it out and they were gonna look at this mafell forum so we will wait and see ,also mentioned to him about the metal “coffin box “ and he said he’s mentioned it so many times but to no avail . One small thing I noticed was that the red splinter guard on the cross rail which comes with saw was already trimmed with a gap of about a mm away from the blade seem to remember it was the same when I bought the kss400 little bit irritating “maybe they are done in the factory like that “ to allow for the kss 80 maybe “thicker blade ? Don’t know but being very particular shouldn’t have to do that on a new saw also dust bag fell off twice not made cut yet I’m sure all will be well when I start using regards Gary ps - batteries weren’t on machine so can’t tell about discharge “they only had one bar charge on each though .

And another thing !! On a plus note the parellel fence from the mt55 fits I think I may order roller edge guide for it this is the fourth kss saw I’ve bought pretty sure all the others had guide fence supplied as standard maybe wrong though - kss300,kss400 “up for sale unused ,kss40 ,mt55 and now kss50 blimey must hide from the missis !!

Ok, update on the battery drain issue: I had to redo the test as I was not 100% sure that the battery I started the test with was on three or four bars...
Loaded a fully charged battery Monday morning and as of Tuesday late afternoon (about 32 hours) it still shows four bars. Will recheck tomorrow morning at 48 hours and post findings. If it has gone down one bar it would be suspicious for sure but as for now it seems ok.

Same for me: the cross cut rail lip was precut and was off by about almost a full millimeter. I changed it as I had rubber in stock. But it was a bit annoying. Yeah, that Dust Bag is a faulty design - for sure! There is a fix for that though. We should not have to fix it but it was an easy fix. If you want to sell me your metal box I would be interested for a fair price. I was happy with my meals on wheels metal cart I built and I could probably have use for another one.

I might be offering up my kss40 and kss400 and get both kss 50 cc and 18mbi. main reason is i do not like where the blade guard retract lever is and its too small to find with out having to look where i stick my fingers.. Also eliminating the need for the 36v battery platform except for my kss60. is there a newer kss 40 that runs on 18v?
is the battery for the kss 50 18mbi the same as my kss300?

arvid: the kss 40 18M bl runs on same 18V platform as the KSS 50 18M bl.
I think you mixed them up - the KSS300 is the corded one.
