hi guys/girls
I just wanted to know do you lot buy the Bosch rails instead of Mafell ones when you buy separate to requirement? Due to Mafell being double the price
Or is best just stick to the Mafell rails
you can buy the 2 x 1.6 Bosch with connector and bag for £100 delivered but you can't even get 1 Mafell rail for that price
has anybody compared them side by side ? For example do they weigh the same? Is the splinter rubber quality and fitting the same ie snug etc

I have 1,6m Mafell rail and a 80cm Bosch rail and a Bosch connector. They mix and match without issue. I'll see if i can get you a pic, tomorrow. As i'm not a chemist i can't tell you anything about the rubber.

Hence I got the Bosch. The saw doesn't know or care, and I suspect the rails come out of the mill before the paint goes on. Plus they give the whole thing a less precious feel for me

Thanks guys
I will have to inspect one at close scrutiny . If the only difference is the paint then Mafell prob use some kind of a really expensive nano , atom , super paint

I have both. They are functionally exactly the same.

Reminds me of the story about Archimedes being tasked with measuring the gold content of the king's crown.

It would have to be NDT nondestructive testing , otherwise it will certainly create a worm whole in my pocket

I would guess the reason right now there is a good price differential between the Bosch and Mafell rails is that Bosch either has a good inventory buildup or they are still in a pricing contract with Mafell. That will equalize at some point, so I'd be getting the Bosch rails while the getting is good. Unless Bosch has no intention of continuing the relationship.

It could also be that Bosch licensed into Mafell's track system (Given their NAINA circular saws with the capability to ride on tracks) and they buy a lot of tracks from Mafell and get (huge) volume discounts since they are committed to using their rail system and they place very large orders. Bosch had their own rail system in the past but it became obsolete when they switched over to the Mafell style rails.

I gotta think volume too, and Mafell benefits just fine.
