years ago i bought a hoffman duel dowel machine. took it out the other day and looking at it it looks exactly like the mafell. the doweling bits even say mafell on them. i also have special rails that are keyed to lock into the notches of the base plate so you can setup repetitive boring on long panels for shelf pins. is this the same as a mafell? was it made by mafell and private labeled?

Yes...same machine. Does mafell offer rails for that machine anymore?
