I spent the day yesterday using the DD40P with the 12mm bits - such an awesome machine.
Spot on alignment even with tricky joints. Also used the 800mm drilling template freehand coming from both ends of a piece 1500mm long ( I'm too tight to fork out for the longer extension! ) - still perfect alignment.
It was a tough choice between Domino 700, DD40P and Zeta - decided on the DD40P for starters - happy with my choice. (Zeta coming up next!)
I would definitely recommend this tool...

Good to hear! I went the Domino route with th DF500 and a few months back the DF700. Took a long hard look at the DD40 but opted for the Domino. The initial cost of Zeta put me off. The XL has done really well and three projects down I am happy with the purchase though it is a little limited to bigger builds where as the DF500 tackles a lot of small to medium stuff with ease. Everytime I think of a DD40G/P I have found a way to "scrape by" with the Domino.
