jonathan has posted a similar how-to. I like how integrated this one is, but I think I would have stopped with the zip-ties until the saw was out of warrantee. DD40 plug-it tutorial

I asked this question on FOG before, I still don't understand the need to do that. Even some people told me about the bomb arm and keeping a single wire and one of those hose covers, but still I don't see the problem. Velcro is fast to connect if you want to have more than one connector and the boom arm. I have a DIY boom arm and one of those hose covers.
I have one heavy duty power strip attached to my CT22, connected to the single plug on the machine. From there I have plugged the Festool wire if I need to connect the Mafell, I just plug it into the strip wire.
Could you explain the advantage of doing this? I asked myself the question and came with this: Time, but it is less time for me to plug the Mafell into power strip, than twisting the plug it. Convenience, Like I said before it is faster to plug into the power strip.
PLease I don't want to sound like a jerk, or anything, I really don't see it. What am I missing?

you dont sound like a jerk.my thought is this= your not missing anything- if your not missing anything. some people want different things. me personally- i really like the plug it system and for one reason only- how the cord wraps up and is out of the way when i finished and packing up. stupid as its sounds i love it.

mattdh- Not sure if you saw the link above that takes you to the DD40 section but in the heading Jonathan specifically says that the same step by step instructions can be followed for the MT55 to install a plug it cord. He gives really detailed instructions. It seemed like most in the U.S. were wanting/needing access to a "pig tail" to complete the install. I could be mistaken about the pig tail part, just read the comments after the step by step from other members of the forum.

It's really easy to put a plug-it on your MT55cc, easier even than on the DD40. The way I attach a plug-it, is at the end of the protective rubber that come out of the saw. That way you don't damage the tool or void warranty. It's still very early over here right now, but tonight (approx. 10 hours from now) I'll do photo tutorial for the MT55cc.
Unfortunately mine is already outfitted with a plug-it, so I'll see how I can photograph it, so that it's also a clear step by step how-to like I did for the DD40.As mentioned above by sgtrjp and 7, if you look at the DD40 tutorial, you can follow pretty much the same procedure. (There's a link to it in my signature at the bottom of my posts) For the MT55cc you simply unscrew 3 screws on the side of the handle grip to gain access to the wiring and you take out the trigger module to attach your wires. The reason I attached the plug-its to my MT55cc, DD40P & P1cc is actually the same as it is for mattdh. I find it a easier and faster to take tools out and put them back in their systainer when there's no power cord to struggle with. And obviously, you have less wires laying around. (I dislike power cords in general ) I also agree with fidelfs though. If you don't mind a cable, it's quicker to just have a power block around to plug in tools rather than constantly switching a plug-it cable. To each his/her own I suppose.

That is pretty sweet looking. Ya I like plug its for packing up. And not having a load of cables lying around when not in use. If I only had some pig tails. ...

I plan on doing something similar but I want to leave a short cord attached to the tool (8"-10"). Any reason not to do this? I was going to use Neutrik connectors instead, as the plug-it adapters aren't available in the US. They're locking and can accommodate 12 gauge wire (needed for the KSS80Ec).

Woodie-
So those connectors have Male and female adaptors?
I'm guessing they aren't compatible with the Plug-it system.

I thought I would just cut one of my plug-it cables to make a short adapter for Festool. One end with the the Neutrik and the other with the plug-it. Here's the part numbers if anyone's interested. Female - NAC3FX Male - NAC3MX Markertek.com seems to have reasonable pricing on them too. Around $8.30 a piece.

All our Machines that are mainly used on a Workbench and need vac have Festool Plugits (we have a starmix vac, but the festool system is very usefull in our opinion)... Also the P1cc, the MT55, Dd40 and Lo 50, but we did the easy way by using an unmodified plugit, not even shortening the attached green festool cable (about 15-20cm).
That made it very easy to install/change the plugits to our machines. About 5 minutes each. Although we have done it very carefull without sratching the screws. And we stored the original cables, so i dont think we will have trouble if we need guarantee from the manufacturer by changing it back in such a case
Some may find it negative to have the festool plugit connector not directly at the machine as shown obove, for me its ok, you need 2 hands to attach the cable, thats all...
