If you need anti-static and want a really flexible hose look at the Planex hose from Festool. Well worth the added cost over their standard AS hose. Planex Hose

I have both the 27mm and 35mm hoses the 27mm don't seem to bad for being flexible but the 35mm hose is quite rigid

I really wish this would have come up before. The main reason I got the workshop cleaning set was for the 36mm hose. With the size, I wondered how stiff it was, but I had never seen any complaints. Actually, the contrary. Everyone recommended the workshop kit to get the 36mm hose. I think it was the day after I received the set that I found a complaint about how the hose deformed the sets systainer.
Do they loosen up any with use?

They do get softer over time my original 27mm hose is a lot more flexible now than when I got it also if you want you can put them out in the sunshine on a hot day that will also help to soften them up a bit

My 36mm AS hose is 3 years old and hasn't softened up much if any. If you're using it outside on a warm sunny day it gets pretty pliable but as soon as the hose goes inside it gets stiff again. The 27mm hose is easier to deal with but it chokes the suction down quite a bit.
If your hose is in good shape you could easily sell it on the FOG. I listed a 36mm hose there a while back for $10-$20 under retail and it sold in 1 or 2 days.
