I see the kss400 batteries have been upgraded and it is now shipped with the same batteries as the kss60 36B(94 Wh,5.2Ah)prior to this the batteries were a smaller Ah,but may I ask you why you chose the kss400 over the kss60 36B? given that there is only 500g(one pound)of a weight difference.

I have a corded kss60 and only use it when cutting rafters and electricity is usually never a problem. 8-10 hours of continues non stop use I don't want to rely on batteries. Been slinging a cord over my shoulder cutting rafters on 16 foot horses for 20 years a cord doesn't bother me on the ground. The cordless kss400 will be for when I'm up too ripping plywood and such or for small punch out work. If the 36v kss400 works as good as advertised I'll get a 36v kss60 ask well. But I think a corded kss85 will be my next one.

I'm pretty sure the batteries are still the same bosch 2.6 ah. It's watts over volts to give the amp's 94÷36=2.6.

you guys are right, its only 2.6Ah(I should have paid more attention in maths at school),that's disappointingly small, both saws have the same batteries,i had thought the kss60 batteries were larger capacity, would make me think twice about either version of these saws, perhaps even more the 60 as it would draw more out of the battery.

I've been using these 2.6ah batts. from Bosch for years in a variety of their tools: Circ, recipro, drills, SDS, hedge trimmer, chainsaw & a couple of mowers.
The heaviest drain appliances (mowers) get about 20 mins. continuous use ea. Doesn't sound like much, but that's actually a couple of hundred square meters (approx 1000 sq. ft.). My only proviso is that conditions must be optimum. Dry, short grass, direct sunshine, low humidity. Sub-optimum conditions like damp or long grass will halve available cutting time to 10 mins. & quarter the area of grass cut per charge! At those rates, I've found an array of 3 chargers & 5 batteries allow continuous, relatively uninterrupted (with the obvious exception of battery exchange of course) operation.
Bosch also make 4.0ah batteries in exactly the same format with about 50% greater capacity & a fairly rare "fatboy" 4.5ah battery sold through their "house & garden" retail network. The 4.0ah battery in particular is now the default battery format supplied as standard with Bosch tools. This is why I've felt for some time that certain aspects of the Mafell /Bosch contractual arrangement is currently not serving Mafell's interest as well as it might, with the need for buyers to acquire replacement Bosch batteries as a clearly superior alternative to the sub-par Mafell OEM alternative! Maybe it's time to renegotiate the relationship, or maybe changeover to Metabo as an OEM supplier of 2 x 18v, 6.2ah battery tools & 36v EC high torque motors, some already in use or to be released shortly. Aside from their excellent guiderails shared with Mafell, Bosch is otherwise somewhat eclipsed by other domestic German suppliers of 36v tooling.
There is a brand new Bosch 36v battery range available in 6.0ah with high current batteries & chargers, specifically dedicated to their "Professional" range of lawn & garden machines, aimed directly at professional estate management contractors & employees, many featuring 2 x 36v operation, multiple battery interface chargers & massive & expensive mains rechargeable DC battery storage/recharging banks. I suspect that, being so large & heavy with extensive alloy finning & heatsinking they won't be directly compatible with their current 36v range of tools.

Must admit it would be better if supplied with the 4 amp batteries and not need to buy separately. I'm thinking next year to get one of the bosch 36v sds drills as I need to replace an old 36v sds hilti

I'm thinking next year to get one of the bosch 36v sds drills as I need to replace an old 36v sds hilti I wish they offered a bare tool so I could buy my own batteries and a 110 charger here in the states. Anyone need an extra 230v battery charger?

Which one is it? The roughly triangular one or the one with a sort of bulbous rectangular footprint?
The irony is that about 6 or 7 years ago I tossed a useless (to me) 110v 36v Bosch charger bought from the 'states with a drill kit! We could've, would've, should've swapped!

Is there a big size difference (weight and bulkyness) between the cordless 400 and the 60?
