hello MAFFEL Users from new member: Hans@ tsoproducts.com. We are the inventors and manufacturers of the GRS-16 Guide Rail Squares for FESTOOL, Makita and Triton track saws. Several of our customers have asked us to consider creating a similar tool designed for MAFELL guide rails. Before adding such a project to our product development Roadmap we really need to gain some understanding of the need and likely demand. Since you may not be familiar with our tools, you may want to see for yourself to gage how helpful such a tool would be for your own track saw use. Check us out tsoproducts.com/tools-equipment/and let us know your thoughts Hans

In the spirit of aiding your business decisions ... I use either pencil lines or this: shop.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/product/system-accessories-fsn-wan-angle-guide--27301So I cannot foresee needing one, because if I am doing 90 degrees I either want it to be rough or accurate. The later approach is measuring off a side with a pencil, or a 3,4,5 triangle. For rough, I use the FSN WAN or a jig saw with the FSN WAN. I could see you providing the FSN WAN and the Bosch clamps, and maybe the Bosch rail bag for North American customers. I suspect that you could move a few of them. Just not sure about the guide square as my approach does not use it. For the record... I tried voting both "Sounds Interesting" as well as "Not Needed". But like Highlander, rather than US voting, there could only be one.

I could use one to make square cross cuts with my P1CC jigsaw. but, it would have to be designed to square from the guide strip side since the P1CC uses the rib on the other side of the rail.

Very definitely interested.
Have read the posts over on the FOG about this product, and, the commitment / success in bringing this to market for Festool guide rails. For quick, really accurate right angled cuts - seems the bee's knees; without, for eg, faffing around with other products such as the FSN WAN angle guide.
A big bonus if could use, one way or another, the P1CC jigsaw. (Thanks for pointing that out MrToolJunkie.)
Rather than targeting 'Mafell' guide rails - think better to focus on compatibility with Bosch rails - which might reach a wider audience - well, in the UK / Europe anyway.
Thanks for even thinking about it. Richard (UK)

Hi Hans and welcome to the forum. I can only applaud your interest in developing something for the Bosch/Mafell rail system. The system you designed for Festool/Makita is nothing short of brilliant, in my opinion! Very straightforward, quick and dead on accurate. The rail extension protractor Mafell & Bosch provide is very nice, but it isn't dead on accurate. I would definitely be interested in an adaptation for Bosch/Mafell rails.
I'd also like to point out that generally people who use the Bosch/Mafell rails think the biggest oversight in these rails is that they are relatively narrow, which prevents us from using accessories like bench dogs, parallel guides, ...
I think if you brainstorm on designing something in that direction, it might also generate a lot of interest. A fast mounting/attaching parallell guides system for these rails is something I think many have been wanting for a long time now.

jonathan: thanks for suggesting that Hans consider other, much needed, accessories.
Must admit, that I bottled out of asking about parallel guides. Guess I was thinking one thing at a time...

We have a bimodal distribution... This is interesting.

Hans - Based on our other conversations, I think this is a great idea. As a hobbyist woodworker with little spare time to develop my own jigs, templates, or other tools to help aid me in performing basic functions in a reliable and consistent manner. Time is precious as it competes with family obligations. A tool like this, if accurate and reliable, allows me to focus on the work and not worry about a portion of other items. I concede to others that the measure in two places with pencil marks and line up the track will work. I often double check my tickmarks because of lack of confidence (again, going back to the time invested piece). I also double check alignment / offset from the edge. However, having this fastened to a track can only help me get more done in less time (one tick mark, align, cut). Some may call all of this lazy on my part ( and I would love to be able to put more time in it ), but I value having high quality equipment which in aggregate can save me time and/or eliminate potential error.

Hi Hans,
This looks like a great product. At the moment I'm not sure I would run right out and buy it if it was available. But if I was faced with a job that required many long, accurate 90 degree cuts, I would probably pick one up. Currently, I can't think of many times I've needed that capability.

Not an essential item for me. Parallel guides on the other hand! This is the weakest flaw for the Mafell/Bosch system, no official parallel guide system exists. Of course you can improvise/etc but I'd like to see a parallel guide system that has fine adjustments.

Personally, I've no interest in parallel guides in the style of festool's or similar products
