With the work that jonathan and woodie have done with the rail and plug pigtail, more of the features I was looking for in the TS55, are available in the MT55. The two remaining are the off-cut splinter guard and flush-cut capabilities. It looks like the only Mafell saw that could do flush-cut is the KSS300, but I'm wondering if the dust shield on the MT55 could be modified to act as an off-cut splinter guard. With possibly an added benefit of being see-thru? The other advantage that the TS55R had was lower price. But, if I can get a better quality saw AND all the feature I need, I don't mind paying a little more. Of course, as long as the the 55R isn't available, it doesn't really matter. At this point, I'm going to see how it goes with the TS75 I got in the Recon sale. I'm pretty sure I'm still going to want a 55, as the 75 is pretty big. I could probably find another solution for the flush-cut, but the scoring feature on the mafell isn't really an option for me. I'd have a notch out of each subsequent piece.

The "notch" is so absolutely miniscule it's not noticeable. Also, welcome to the forum!

the scoring feature only offsets the blade to the left 1/10th mm (or for you imperial users, 0.039370 inch) I plan on doing a video on the MT55cc cutting a small piece of the cheapest white melamine to demonstrate the scoring function and tear out, or better, lack thereof. Probably this weekend, but don't hold me to that timing though

Sounds great. Can you show with scoring and without?

I plan on being comprehensive about it. With scoring, without, keeper side, non keeper side & the undersides. If there's something I'm forgetting or you have very specific things in mind, I'm open to suggestions I'm not the best videographer though. Ordered a tripod for this which should arrive in the next couple of days. So hopefully I'll be able to make something halfway decent if I can find the right positions to place it in so everything's clearly visible.

Maybe I got that mixed up. Is it .1mm over and scores 1mm deep?

Same story from the guys who originally built the Hubble telescope, just took a little spacewalk to fix. So you have nothing to worry about for a little forum error.
