MT55 arrived last week in the new T-max systainer. I'm guessing it had been dropped at some point, as the saw was in the plunged position, and well jammed in place.
A closer look, and the plastic plunge selector was broken in two, the saw had plunged past the top piece with the allen bolt, and was totally jammed in place. I'm a bit suprised it was so 'fragile' to break like this - no damage to the systainer.
More surprising, the dealer is sending it off to Mafell to get repaired - I would have hoped they would send out a replacement straight away.
Anyway, can't complain, it was a very good deal - be pleased to get it back and actually try it!

Mate, that's awful. I would want a fresh machine not a refurb.

I received a phone call from Mafell in Germany yesterday. Despite a strong German accent, I must say his French was perfect!
Initially he said that looking at the photos, nothing is broken, but after explaining where to look and what to look at, he agreed it should be replaced.
Fingers crossed it gets replaced soon!

Wow, that's concerning that the MT55cc you received went through such a shock that could cause the plunge depth selector to break like that. I'd have to wonder what would of caused that piece to break, since I believe the MT55cc uses glass fiber reinforced nylon 6 or some similar plastic that you'd see on most power tools for most of the plastics. Not only that, there is a metal piece that extends out when the plunge unlock is pushed upwards so I would have to wonder what happened to it during shipping... Good to hear that Mafell went and did the right thing in response.

A quick update - the dealer repaired and sent out the saw, which I refused - and so they stopped replying to my emails. I sent a message to Mafell Germany - everything sorted, a new saw sent out - 5 weeks in total from ordering to final delivery! The card in the lid is torn, and the foam that is supposed to hold the saw in place is a bit deformed - the saw was not in the designated position, but it's not broken - somewhere a long the line, someone is being rough with these!.. So if you get dealer problems, contact Mafell direct - they will step in to help out.

The cards inside the boxes are also a little torn on both my P1cc and MT55cc which I assume is from handling during shipping. Both of them made it across from the East Coast of the US to the West Coast, but they're mechanically fine and my foam shows no damage aside from being a little compressed. It sounds like the courier service used by the original dealer treated the package like a soccer ball to me. Was the MT55cc shipped in a plain box that fit the Mafellmax box tightly? If it was, it seems like at this rate a thin amount of foam should be used as an sacrificial protective element to prevent couriers from pounding the box with a brand new saw until it needs repairs on arrival...
I was also somewhat surprised when both the P1cc and MT55cc arrived in a tightly fitting box when I received them both. On one hand I'm impressed they're durable enough to hold up to courier abuse when packed in the Mafellmax boxes, on the other hand I'm surprised they're shipped without any additional protection.
I think one of the guys on the green forum also had courier troubles a while back when one of their items arrived damaged from shipping. Got me thinking about what the packaging was like in that case.

It was shipped in a slightly larger box with air pillows on top and one side, just like the first one.
It seems the foam in the lid doesn't hold the saw well enough for shipping, OK for every day use though.

Can I ask which dealer you originally bought your MT55 from? Was it a dealer in the UK?
