I've received such glowing reviews of the OF 2200 -- especially from our friend in Ron Burgundy country, MrToolJunkie -- that I've never seriously considered the big Mafell router, the LO-65...
...On the other hand, I do [greatly] prefer the 230V motor...which begs the question: Do you own the big Red & Blue router, Mister Holmz?

Not yet Red. I am not sure if I get an Erika first or not. Maybe not.
I am leaning towards the Arunda and they say LO-65, I know that the Arunda is a lot of coins/beer-tokens, but it looks like it would pay for itself in one house.
I got the L0-50 because it was a lot cheaper and below the GST magic limit, so a lot cheaper It is a nice unit and similar to the OF1400 in feel/ergonomics... Just w/ 8-mm bits.
It has a lot of power, so maybe we ask Aaron?

Namely, the Arunda TF template system versus the LignaTool design concept. Whaddayathink?

I know the 2200 is quite versatile although it has power can also do the finer things and doesn't feel out of place does the 65 offer this or is it just brute power? Anyone used both?
Just Been read your threat Red but the verdict isn't really out!

I know the 2200 is quite versatile ... ^how^ do you know? The LO-50 feels and looks like the 1400, but only with 8-mm collect instead of 1/2". In use the LO-50 is pretty good. I would have to use the 2200 or LO-65 and guess at the other, or guess at both. The 2200 in the shoppes felt like the plung was sticky and jerky. The Lo-50 felts both smother and stiffer, but a sample set of one is not great. I know that the LO-65 fits on an Erika for use as a router table...

2200 has superior dust collection. in fact I would say it has the best dust collection of any router that I know of. The 65 has an extra 400 watts to it both are rated at 3hp I believe.

Oh and the 50 is closer to festool's 1010

i looked closely at the 1010, and the dust collection and the handles of the 1400 are almost identical to the LO-50 The 1010 is miniature in comparison.
The dust collection on the 2200 also looked like the LO-50, whereas the 1010 had it cast into the base and used the oval port which is a PITA to get the hose onto just like the DX93.

The 2200 has a collar that drops down sealing the space between the base and motor, dust is collected through a hard mounted shaft running along the side and up through the top. It just sucks everything up when paired with a good vac

A friend of mine is a bit of a Festool fanboy, So I've used it a few times and in comparison to the trend i use the plunge is a considerable upgrade maybe the 65 can compete here but i haven't personally used anything that feels as good. But at the same time all my comparisons are made against routers that have been abused on site for the best part of a decade so it would be good to play with them both side by side but no Mafell dealer where I'm from

I hear you with no play-time at a dealer.
The main thing that was odd is that like the DW621 there is a dust port on the OF2200. That port is on the edge and the two plunge rods are off-centre. Aesthetically it looked odd, but I think that the ELU were the same way. The plunge was like it had beeswax on it and was sticky. Maybe it was just the one.
But who does plunge cuts? Mostly my old 1/2" router was used as a shaper (In a table).. So it either has to mount on a table or have some handles to grab the bull by the 'orn
The LO-65 is twice what the dewalt 625 costs, and 2500W versus 1400W. I am not sure what to look for in a large router other than power. I think I would be dragging whatever outside to route it and let the chips land where they may.

Have you considered the big Triton to go in a table?

The beauty about the 2200 is that you don'tyou have to drag anything outside. Dust collection is probably the most important factor for me when considering a router. Any 2200 I've used waste very smooth on the plunge, and yes I do plunge cuts.

Any 2200 I've used waste very smooth on the plunge, and yes I do plunge cuts. That is one reason I would like to find someone who has used both. I think most plunging I would be doing would be with the LO-50. The Linga or Arunda is also a consideration. And does the 2200 fit in the Erika extension?
