Heh...I wondered if everyone would know the video I'm referring to without linking it.
So, I'm settled on the KSS 400. Can I really save enough money importing to make it worth waiting for customs, dealing with 220v, extra shipping costs, etc.?

I think what the biggest thing was in that video was that the TS55R took the ball bearing that was there in the TS55 and replaced it with a plain bearing. I've heard modern plain bearings can be good in that specific situation where there is a thrust load. The thing is I don't know what composition that bearing is. Checking the MT55cc diagram it looks like there's ball bearings in that location and from my understanding the Makita SP6000 is the same. At the price that TS55R goes for I find that kind of odd... The rails were my main reason for going with the MT55. I am not skilful enough make a straight cut with a dog legged rail no matter how great the saw is... and as the MT55 fits both rails and the TS55 only fits FT rails, it was MT55 or Bosch.

I have no idea how US customs works, nor at what dollar level the charges start. If you are comfortable with 230v (220v) then I think it makes a lot of sense, and other NAINA tools get easy. Is 30%+ savings worth it? It is for me.

Do you have a source or a website for the 30%-ish savings? I have found a few UK and one German website, but I am only coming up with about a 10% discount over TWolf pricing. This is after removing VAT and adding international shipping.

You need to pay attention to pricing with or without VAT (or MSWT in Germany). Shipping has proven surprisingly fast and reasonable. In some cases savings are 40% or more.

I'm looking to purchase the following: KSS 400 1.1m rail 1.6m rail rail connector clamps (1 pair) extra blade I'm coming up with around $1400US domestically, and about $1250US (minus VAT, shipped) from UK. I tried searching eBay, but didn't see the actual saws. Do I need to search on eBay UK or DE sites? I found a nice MT55cc kit including 2 1.6m rails and clamps for about $800US shipped. Almost considered buying that, selling the saw and picking up the KSS400 elsewhere. We all know I would end up keeping both saws, though. I'd have two great saws and no wife! haha

sundog - send an email directly to Tobias, to the address Holmz has posted above. Tell him exactly what you want, and he'll get back to you (very quickly) with a quote. He's very familiar with the Mafell line up. Also, his English is excellent. Lincoln.

Holy smokes...thank you holmz! I ordered from Dictum, and if everything works out as quoted, I should be saving in the area of $450US. INSANE. Super stoked!

I only charge 10%, and I have PM'ed my PalPay. The money saved will allow for some Nuetrik pigtails and extensions. Dictum is easy if it all a web sale. If it get complicated in any way, like accessories and spare parts then Toby is aways easier on the phone. You will have the 230v for the Eu purchase and if you are looking at 110v then I'll just chuck you to the Timberwoves rather than the UK route. Insane would be NOT doing it, or having a requirement like 110v that you need to follow.

I will send Tobias an email anyway, and see if there is a significant difference. Thanks!

Looks like I head east from Bozeman for the beer(s).

I put an email in to Tobias. Dictum was closed by the time I requested the quote, so it's not a done deal just yet. Yes, east from Bozeman on I94 until you fall asleep. When you wake up you'll probably be in hospital in Fargo. Message me your room number and I will bring you in a nice local craft brew with a straw.
