And those Bosch TopPrecisions only cut .0025 thousandths away from a splinter guard trimmed with similar mafell blade. Pricing is very reasonable too with tons of vendors to find sales.
(I wonder if it should be mentioned somewhere in these forums that new mafell purchasers consider selling the blade that comes with the saw before they trim their splinter guards and standardize on other brands.)

Superb blades. Made in Italy so probably from one of the other well known manufacturers bought up by Bosch. Freud would be my guess.

Thought I had just got some out of spec Tenryu 12 tooth blades, and that was why they slightly trimmed the guard - even though their listed kerf/plate say they shouldn’t. But last I spoke with Tenryu they admit the website specs are wrong for that blade. Kerf should be listed wider. Need low tooth-count blades for lumber and the occasional nail etc. but seems like everything else out there, below a 24/28 tooth, is too wide a kerf & will trim guard. Ordered one of the very thin kerf 28t Makita blades (for their cordless). I figure the thinness will make up some for the extra teeth, plus they’re inexpensive. Will find out tomorrow if the plate is too thin for the MT flange to clamp it. ---------------------------- Makita A-99950 beater blade seems to clamp and clear internal fine. Made in China. $29- Listed as - 2.0mm / 1.4mm *165 dia. 28 tooth = .300 o.h Sample measures - 2.057mm / 1.422mm = .3175mm o.h (won't trim guard) ---------------------------------------------------------- -edit: Should point out that while the above Makita blade lists itself as "Ultra Thin Kerf" I just 'assumed' it was thinner than similar mafell / Bosch blades. I wasn't paying attention to the numbers - it's actually thicker of course. Makita does make a truly very-thin-kerf blade - the B-57342 but I guess they carry over the marketing angle to the artwork here. But, for a beater blade I'm relieved that it's not so thin. I was concerned what would happen to s.g with blade flex if I used a truly thin kerf blade in hardwoods. We'll see how much I like this blade as time goes on. They come with a conformal coating that only wears off through cutting (which I don't like from a precision standpoint even though it's general purpose blade). The higher quality Bosch 2608642385 24-tooth Top Precision blade ships to your door from amazon.de for about $32usd. So unless I'm really impressed, I think for the difference of $3 bucks, I will restock with the Bosch 2608642385 24-tooth Top Precision's after this blade has seen enough nails.

Key Blades has these new blades coming. I'll have the KSS 40 blade in my hands next month.

Those 162's should make a lot of people happy. But they go out of their way to hide the plate thickness info so no idea if they've considered kerf to guard distance compared to other blades folks already own.

I'm also a woodman and I think that you definitely should use thin saw blades if you want to work with hardwood. Also, try to change blades of saw as frequent as possible. Good luck and have a nice day!
