They are indeed siblings that can mate. In one of the photos you can see the mafell battery that came with my kss 40. In the others you see the charger for my (US) metabo sb 18 ltx drill with the mafell battery inserted. And the chargers and batteries side by side. They are the same.

Now I will check eBay . Anyone know if there is a preferable charger or are they all pretty much similar in terms of charge times? As usual , the response here is always great....

Mine just came in. Charging the second mafell battery in my metabo charger as we speak. The blade break on this cordless version is a huge bonus. It fees like it has more power than my old corded. The dust bag is also a mega bonus. No airborne dust at all. larger particles from Below the saw Wil drop but the dust is minimal. Excited to have this new version and I promise not to be a moron with it.

So after some thought I decided to order the new Metabo cordless miter saw as well. Been meaning to replace both my Dewalt 12"slide and the little Hitachi 10" saws with something more portable. My Kapex is hooked up in the basement shop and pretty much stays put. After i saw the teaser ad with the Metabo portable table saw in the foreground, I decided I'd invest in their battery system. So having the KSS 40 and a cordless miter saw should make those smaller jobs that much easier. After using the 300 extensively the past couple years , having a cordless version with a dust bag is something I'm really looking forward to. I still need to get another Metabo charger though......

luzzyCheck your miter saw when you get it. I bought two from Lowe's and returned one. The rails on the second one I got are much smoother than the first, and my first battery came fully discharged, which was a little concerning, I'm thinking internal short or something? I've never had a battery arrive fully flat before. Charged up fine and has held it's voltage though, so who knows.

That's a sweet kit. The metabo drill and mafell saw sharing the same batteries.

You can get 'em on eBay, or I'll sell you one, I have 5 or 6 now. Too bad we can't get the ASC Ultra here, it cuts the charge times down, especially for the big 6.2 LiHD, which takes quite a while to charge. Let me know how much and where to send payment ??

But how oes one ship them? Airlines and postal services do not like them.

We're just talking chargers, but postal service says Li-ions are fine as long as they're not loose (packed into the pack is fine) and are labelled on the outside of the packaging. I've shipped lots of batteries since the laws have come into effect.
