Santa's been very kind this year. Maybe not vice versa. Who knows? Maybe I didn't deserve this. I got a KSS 40 on my doorstep the other day! Straight from Tobias in Germany. I was pleased to see that the battery is interchangeable with my Metabo drill and charger. Even a Mafell T-loc systainer on this saw. I'll be putting this baby to use on some dibond sculpture displays for a 5th ave store window in the coming days. I plan on trying my hand at folding the material with v shaped grooves and the KSS will come in handy for all the small cuts.

Nice! Will you be using a router on a guide rail for the V grooves, Kalas?

Yea. I plan on using some amana bits for various angles. They are made for this.
The Metabo drill turns out to be on a pretty flexible platform. I got a centrotec holder on that as well. I've had some Festool bits and pieces around and they fit well.

Mind snapping a photo of the lid open?

Awesome. How long did it take to ship to the states? I sent them an email through their site for some stuff but have not heard back. Not sure if there is a better way to reach Tobias directly?

Shipping is super fast. I get them to ship UPS since the USPS is an absolute disaster here in Brooklyn. With the postal service I have had to wait three months for a package from Germany, whereas, UPS delivers the package the next day(!). Amazingly fast. From the time the order is shipped to arrival here it is just 24hrs.

Very cool!
Any import fees/duties going UPS? I've been gunshy about using them (usually opt for DHL or EMS/USPS) since I got hammered with import brokerage fees from importing stuff from Canada, but the more I've been reading, it seems like it's a Canada-only thing.

They offer DHL or UPS shipping. The problem with the former (DHL) is that they hand it over to the USPS once it gets to the US. That certainly doesn't work well with the local (NYC) postal system. Maybe it works better elsewhere, but whenever I get the option I will pay more for UPS. There is a very small import fee that UPS collects. Not sure how much it was this time. A letter usually arrives a little later. It's been less than ten bucks or so in the past for similar amounts.

Note for those who are importing. If you have your own company and register it with the local shipper, import fees are significantly less. importing my erika from the us into canada only cost me some 200$ in taxes as opposed to the extra grand they were initially threatening me with.

On order, awaiting shipment. As for my 300, I'm having a local dude take a look see. Hopefully she can be resurrected, if not I'll do some comparison shots and note the differences. can't wait to get a little kss back, it's been like working without an arm and was equally devestating as losing both Lemmy Kilmister and Philthy Animal Phil.
