Thinking about it: If the Bosch clamps are kinda fragile until you replace the screw and the clamps have to be ordered from overseas for North Americans in the first. The Mafell clamps are the F-style clamps that don't have the capacity or the ease of use: Why wooden cam clamps/luthier clamps? I don't think the rails need tons of pressure nor would I want to put that much force on the T slot profile. Given there's end grain at the bar, that could be fixed by laminating a center piece of side brain into the middle of the bar and adding a threaded insert but I think having that fail before damage happens to the rail slot would be better. The hard to find part is the T bolt that'll fit the Mafell/Bosch rail profiles and johathan figured that one out: mafell-users-forum.freeforums.net/thread/63/prototype-proof-concept-parallel-guidesImages provided for visualization purposes, no real dimensions going on here. When I get some work and other projects out of the way I plan on making a pair. I think I might just use some scraps of construction lumber for a prototype to just test if I dimensioned the moving jaw properly. Right now I have the Bosch clamps and I don't have any urgency to for more rail clamps. This came out of seeing the two Bosch clamps having screws break and remembering that there's not that much clamping force required to hold a rail down so I realized wooden cam clamps would probably work just fine.
I just dropped the idea down since I see any posts bringing this up this alternative up yet if someone had some shop made cam clamps on hand and wanted to try it out before I got a chance.
