Just some thoughts on some people's fanaticism for brand affinity. It would be easy to assume this is a mafell fan boy site, and we all worship at mafell's altar. I don't think this is the case here. Sure we are paying a premium and for some of us going above and beyond to import these tools, but I stress that it's not always the best choice for everyone. If someone wants to come here to express their disappointment or regret buying a mafell product, I think it's important to welcome those comments for consideration.
The reason I personally have been against any sort of official affiliation is so we can maintain freedom of expression, good or bad, on mafell products or competitors, without the fear of repercussions from some corporate master. My opinions ar my opinions and have just as much value as yours. If I disagree, I might express that, but it doesn't mean that you're wrong.
This topic comes up because of a thread I happened upon on another forum and the resulting accusations of members on that site, as the opinions expressed differed from that of the die hards there.
Personally, I could care less what sells more. Only that I get get the best implements to do what I do efficiently, which is build stuff. I sincerely hope that you're getting the most out of your tools and you're happy making whatever it is you make.
Let's keep the MUF, the great, albeit chaoticly disorganized, venue it is. Long live the MUF!

Long live the MUF!
This is one of my favorite forums to be on. I try to contribute the best I can with honest answers (or my honest opinion based on my experience) and there is some great feed back on all brands here. Of course I like all the Mafell info as well.
Build stuff hey.... I better get to the shop!

I never thought MUF was a "fanboy site" when I first saw it. The wealth of information I found on the tools and adaptation for the rail system got me really interested in Mafell. At first I had seen the videos of the Bosch accessories for the tracks and then I had found out that Mafell rides on the tracks.
I have to assume that the forum that those accusations came from comes from another forum of the "80, 255, 31" color. I think I even know what thread that was on that forum and I've seen the same nasty attitude on Youtube videos where tracksaws and other power tools are brought up.
I haven't seen any attitude like that on MUF and I've only learned more and more from here.
Long live the MUF!

I like this forum very much as there isn't the big sale it's very much how we all find the tools in use. There strengths and weaknesses.

Also if a tool or something doesn't meet my expectations or needs tweaked i personally think it's worth telling the manufacturer. What I'm not happy with then it can be tweaked in future model's. It wouldn't surprise me if people from mafell do have a glance of what's being said here. They probably have a policy not to post on forums to remain impartial of what is being said which is probably a good thing

No doubt. really they'd be silly not to have a peek now and then. If they do they could offer the tool with a Neutrik attached

Said it before and I'll say it again...I love having a quiet forum that's patronized by those serious enough about their work to invest in the best tools for any given job.
When it comes to wood working, I come from a very traditional timber framing (TF) background where power tools were shunned. I've learned, however, that mixing hand tools with select power tools not only increases efficiency, but makes for better results (in many cases). Given that our style of TF came out of Europe, Mafell certainly swings a big hammer when it comes to TF power tools. They are not always the best option, however, and I've tried to show that via the photos I've posted on the timber framing board of this forum.
There don't seem to be any basement dwellers on this forum -- like those that GhostFist seemed to be describing in his original post -- and I, for one, hope it stays that way. Viva la MUF!

Brand superiority For the work that I do the tools that get the most use are quality. It pays buying the best they last longest and make you smile. The result is your pride in your product. I for one own numerous tools and brands to many to list. Quality is contagious there's a quote " The bitterness of poor quality far out last the sweetness of a low price" I enjoy this forum as it seems to draw people who don't try to force feed others. Only sane discourse about things. Have a great day ![](//storage.proboards.com/3639287/thumbnailer/2ykyPnwnHDpg7PzkTpyd.jpg)
