I really don't know where to go with all of what I've read here...If anyone directly importing these great power tools from Germany wishes to have a rational discussion about why the use of adapters and/or transformers doesn't make good sense, please PM me and I'd be happy to help you reach a sound decision. If nothing else, it just might save you some hard-earned money.

... why the use of adapters and/or transformers doesn't make good sense Please enlighten me (us). Mafell builds a Universal motor capable of handling the different voltages and frequencies of major global markets. What's the concern? As you wrote elsewhere I am here to learn also.

I didn't realise cutting the cord and fitting an english plug would invalidate the warranty. I bought a KSS400 from Germany saving about £150 over the UK prices..hope I haven't anything to worry about...

I don't think that any of us can speak to Mafell's warranty policy, Tymbian, which is why I work around the issue. When you get some time for it, take a look at the thread linked below and, hopefully, it will shed some light on this for you: Electrical cable/adapter/plug information and advice...
