I see what you mean the way the spec was written made me think it's the metabo version. I wouldn't let it put you off. We will have to wait I guess. The 400 36v comes with the 2.6 amp batteries. It will operate on the 4 amp batteries I've no idea why they don't sell with the 4 amp batteries.

Looks like you're right about being th bosch batteries I managed to get the English version for the new saw and checked the part number for a spare battery and both are the same. No idea why they didn't go the metabo route

Agree that Mafell is making a mess of their battery line-up. One of the reasons I love Mafell is they don't cut corners and make no-nonsense tools. I don't know how or why they managed to fuck this up. There's probably good reasons for it like contractual obligations or whatnot, who knows, but for the end user I think it's kind of mess with 3 battery platforms. For the 10V they should have licensed the BS 18 Quick, which is the same small drill but with 18v battery. And for 36V they should go the Makita/Festool way with 2x 18V.
That way the end user only needs a single battery platform and doesn't need to invest in 3 different batteries and go plugging in 3 different chargers on site. Just my opinion though...

it's a mess for sure,i still think one 18v LiHD battery would have been best(I think 6.2Ah are now in metabo's line up),a new user, comparing festools and mafells kss offerings will more than likely opt for festool's with about three track lengths and all four saws fitting on any track, this is the type of thing I would like to see on the mafell range.

Metabo has a 2x18v adapter as well. You can see it on their 230mm 36v grinder.

Was £699 inc VAT at the DM show last week. was quite a good deal then. But didn't like the fact that they were only 2.6Ah. Nowadays its 4-5Ah standard especially a for a top end tool.

Ok now i got an answer from Mafell in the Moment they use 36V Bosch and 18V Metabo but they can get 36V LiHD from Metabo and they will use it when they have a tool and a market that fit to it. Maybe we get a KSS80 with Metabo batteries in the future who know

It would have made sense for the 60, but thier is properly some stupid reason I did actually wonder if they are doing away with the 400 and the 60 is the replacement saw. So you have the kss40 for the internal jobs , the kss,60 for general work and the kss 80 for roofs etc
