Is anyone current on the available Bosch FSN rail packages? I see on toolstop this is available: www.toolstop.co.uk/bosch-fsn-plunge-saw-guide-rail-kit-including-fsn-1600-x-2-fsn-bag-fsn-vel-p62216I've seen elsewhere a more "complete" kit with screw clamps included. The shipping charges plus premium to Hawaii for a similar Mafell kit is adding up to $3-400 extra. I still can't get a shipping quote for the rail parts since they are "a la carte". Is this the only vendor shipping Bosch to the US? Or are there others? Also for the US customers, is VAT refunded? One retailer told me she can't refund VAT which makes no sense. Thanks

I no expert on the vat situation. My understanding is that the seller can not claim back vat for the customer. The custumer has to fill in some form I'm not sure what it is called. Vat has to be reclaimed back from customs and excise and only customers in different countries in the world from the seller or a company that is vat registered can claim back uk vat.

checkmax If you're looking at Toolstop's website and it shows the price in USD then VAT has already been removed. When you go to checkout it shows "Tax" as 0.

For those that don't know, there's no adhesive glue used to attach the splinter strip either it clicks into the extrusion. Waitaminute - there's no adhesive? So IF there was a consistent difference following the cut line in (for example) 0 degree vs 45 degree beveling on the tracksaws, you could simply have two guards and snap the appropriate one in place if you changed angles?

This is how the aniti-splinter guard looks. As you can see, it slots into the rail extrusion itself. No adhesive. But you won't just quickly swap one out for another. It does take some "effort". It's definitely less messy than how the competition does it though.

What you could do if there is a real issue with the angle cuts and distance from the blade to rail line is have 2 rails one cut at 90 deg and one cut at 45deg and just use the appropriate one. If u do a lot of mitre cuts would be worth just getting extra bosch rails.

Has anyone ever tried reusing a previously-installed splinter guard? I wonder if they survive removal and installation 100% intact and holding the same line. I suppose you could keep a separate one for each blade if you were anal-retentive enough..

No never tried reusing I think too much hassle and not worth the effort. Taking off I just give a slight push down and twist out putting back sometimes takes a bit more time not worked out the easiest way completely. In 3 years of having the rails only changed once I think. Some could maybe do with a change

That splinter guard is very stout, you'll be surprised how infrequently you need to change it.
I like how the crosscutting track for the KSS-400 and MF-26cc/400 use the same splinter guard as the F-Tracks, makes inventorying extra consumables much easier!

Mark, the Festool clamps do not work with Mafell/Bosch tracks. The T-track in these rails is a lot more shallow so the Festool clamps will not fit.
