Hi folx! I'm thinking about getting the KSS400 to replace my Bosch GCM 8sjl mitre saw. The reason to sell the Bosch is solely due to lack of space. Can i do everything the Bosch does with just the KSS 400? The specs are telling me that i could. But what is your take? Best regards: Andi

Yes and no it really depends on the tasks. For general framing and simple roofs. It's only really small pieces that takes a bit of extra effort. What sort of tasks do you plan on doing

I don't have the KSS, but the Festool HKC55. It is an excellent saw!.. but as an addition to a mitre saw, not as a replacement for. My guess is the same would apply to the Mafell version.

I am thinking I could replace a CMS with an Erika. Is that sensible?

Thanx for your replies, guys. Dubble thanx to you, aas for replying twice to the same question I intend to use the KSS for general woodworking, i.e maintainance of our house, some crude furniture . As i said it's not that i'm unhappy with the Bosch, it's just that it's taking up a lot of space. And in comparison the KSS 400/ HKC55 appear to work extremly well. holmz: i'd prefer the Erika before the CMS-ts insert faiw. Or did you mean to be sarcastic?

While I usually am prone to bouts of sarcasm, I am serious this time. I am thinking that by the time I decide upon a CMS (which I generally do not need very often), then I could use the Erika to accomplish the same thing. Right now I just mark them and either use the MT55 on the MFT, or I use small off-cut piece of track left over from the 1600-mm get cut for the MFT (Free-hand), or I use the the Bosch Miter piece. Depends whether it is: - A long 2x4 (Free-hand with the small 550-mm rail) - A manageable piece of moulding/skirting/cornice then I usually use the MFT, - For an unmanageable 'barstard' of a piece of moulding I either use a square and freehand of the miter. If I am doing a few cuts then I use the miter. By then time I select a CMS (Bosch or Kapex) and then a portable table saw (Bosch ?) then I am much of the way to an Erika. I am trying to convince myself that this is accurate. The Kapex seem to have a following like a rock star, but there are also reports of badly behaving Kapexes. So I would probably lean towards a Bosch. The Precisio doesn't seem like it is worth 2/3 of an Erika, and with all the bolt on bits it seems like a toy. (But I have never used one, nor a Kapex). And I need a table saw more than a CMS. While I would like a Hammer/Felder, it is larger than what I generally have room for, and I cannot chuck it into the ute. But I am hoping that the Erika is about as accurate and precise as the dedicated saws???

Sweden. But originally from Germany. My Paternal relatives went to Sweden in ~1540 (probably post Martin Luther's work). Then Malmo. I visited my cousin (twice removed or something like) in that Stockholm 2 years ago. The highlight (which sounds a bit odd), was the millennium tour, which was about Stig Larson and his locations for the book "Men who hate women", with in the english speaking countries is called "The girl with the dragon tattoo". The english version makes little sense compared to the Swedish name. Are you into race cars? (I have a picture from Skaden international raceway) Where in Germany did you grow up?

Aye. What i take to be you surname ,Holm, means small island in swedish. So your paternal forebears came from Germany as well? I've seen the swedish version of ' flickan som lekte med elden' but i've never read the books. I thought the films to be quite depressing, though.. On the matter of my origin i can quote JFK: ich bin ein Berliner.

I have not been to Berlin, only Munich and the reagansburn en route through Czeck Republic on a radweg deal to Linz and Wein. Have you been to Skaden?

Skaden is on an island across from the centre of Stockholm. It is an amusement park or sorts, like Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen which Walt designed Disneyland off of.
