Are there some decent options available in the US apart from Festool and Mafell? Bosch? Any experience? I've only used the Festool Mini and ct36.

I've only used Festool vacs. I have a CT26 and HEPA Midi and have no complaints... well aside from the Midi not having a place to wrap the dang power cord. I've looked at Fein vacs on and off. I prefer using bags and while Fein can do this you have to add a few accessories. Bosch looks like they have some cool vacs coming out.

Thinking of adding a 230v vac to use with corresponding volt tools.. Options are less then, being in the US..

I have a Clarke CAV8 that I really like. I use the same Bags as my Festool CT 26. The Clarke is typically used for Wood floor refinishing and even has a button to shake the HEPA filter.

I much prefer the festool vacs to the fein. I have heard of people that prefer the fein because it doesn't require a bag. With no bag there isn't much that separates the fein from a standard shop-vac that loses suction with the dirty filter.

I like bags, keeps the dust from flying everywhere. Currently own a Midi that is going to be exchanged for a 26 due to a recall here in Canada

I prefer a bag system.
By the way I reuse my Festool bags. Its a simple system that hasnt failed. When the bag gets full for the first time I cut the bag end out, dump contents, then simply fold the end over twice, and staple with a paper hand stapler. When the bag gets full again I just pull it open and re-staple.
I have a plan for a simpler system but this seems to work for me and has saved lots of money. On my last job alone I was filling 2-3 Ct 26 bags daily and thats just for my machine Vac.

I guess would be ok as long as you weren't using 2 tools at the same time

I have plugged electrical splitters into my ct vacs a few times. I didn't notice any negative affects.

I wrap the cut end of the festool bags around a 15mm copper pipe and clip it together. Seems to work well. Could also use a stick and bulldog clips.
