Hiya there, a newbie here I've just bought some Bosch track for my KSS80. The rubber splinter strip that the blade runs along obviously overlaps where the blade is. Having not used any other track before, I don't know if you just turn on and "saw" it to fit or whether there's some other work-around, e.g. replacing bosch blue strip with Mafell. Also, anyone know if there is a good lubricant for tracks, My carpentry lube of choice is candle wax? cheers guys

I ran my saw over 3 tracks last weekend by first cutting the blue strip. There is actually a bunch that comes off, so you may want a vacuum. I was outside, but had to wipe off the tracks as the rubber gave the saw traction on the tracks. I ordered some Mafell strips for pretty but "the wood don't care". (The Mafell/Bosch track connector works well)

Cheers Holmz.
Although Bosch supply no instructions with the rails, I've found stuff on Youtube and hidden in the Bosch site, that tells you to cut the strip in with the saw, this goes for any Bosch saw used on the stuff. Must admit I'd like the red strip myself and possibly Mafell written all over the rails and not Bosch.
(I'm sure the wood does care)

Hey Ross, welcome. Order the Mafell rail connector, and slide it over the Bosch logo on the rail - no one will ever know!
Make sure the saw is adjusted to a snug fit on the track before cutting the splinter strip - though I'm not sure if you can do that with the KSS80,like you can with the MT55?

I was going to put the kids 'Hello Kitty" stickers on it, but they disposed off all those and now are using science and math(s) equations. I just cut a 1600 rail into a 1025 and 575 with the jig saw. Which worked will with the Bosch tss blade. Maybe I will use the short piece as a KSS guide (or is it a different model?). Then I fitted that to the MFT and used the Seneca log stainless dogs to square it to the holes. Finding the 3 and 5-mm allen keys took a while. Then I made a template and getting stuck into the router...

I am guessing you have already trimmed the splinter strip by now but any information I ever came across on the subject mentioned cutting the strip with the blade set shallow- like 3mm.
I have both Bosch & Mafell rails. They are identical in every way besides the blue vs red colors and the logo.

Thanks for the input Strip is now cut in with the saw and the whole thing is working nicely. I found the instructions (embarrassed smiley) which show you how to do it. I set the depth to 10mm. Does anyone know if you can adjust the KSS 80 base for a "snug fit" (blade closer to the rail edge) as mentioned by 7? I have a small gap on the 370 angle rail between the lip edge and the blade, which doesn't help accuracy. As far as I remember there was no "cutting the strip in" when I got it.

As far as I know no. Silly question did you cut the splinter strip on the 370 rail or was it already cut when you got the saw.

Here's a screen shot of the Bosch instructions A bit small, but the pdf is found from; www.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/fsn-ra-32-1600-34829-ocs-p/As far as I remember the rubber lip was not cut in when I first used the saw, I seem to remember assuming it was "factory set". It's only now that I've got the Bosch rails and the last few times I've used it for very tight fits that I've noticed the gap, which is only about 1/64" - 1/32", which is fine for site work. However, as we say over here "If you're a cabinet maker you work to the nearest 1/64, if you're a furniture maker you work to the nearest 1/32, if you're a site chippie you work to the nearest 1/8 and if you're a boat builder you work to the nearest boat!"

Sorry Ross. I was attempting a joke. Namely that men do not generally read instructions.
