Another use I've found for the DD40 is drilling for cabinet hardware. A lot of Euro style hardware is fitted via 5mm dia holes, at multiples of 32mm centres. I've used it for some specialty hinges, hinge plates, and in the pics below, fittings for some Grass lift up flap hardware. It's easy to work to pencil marks, due to the excellent marks on the base/fences, and you can set the sliding fence to whatever your set back is. Set the drilling depth and you're good to go. Beats drilling by hand, in a lot of situations. Attachments:

Here are the doors fitted. Just need a final sand, then time to poly. The fittings are a bit ugly, on the interior of the cabinet, but they'll be full of books so will disappear/blend in. Great adjustment on these, and easy to install. (These are the doors I was cutting in the Aerofix thread).

I need similar fittings. The local supplier said use regular hinges, and he is also the fellow that said $400 to put some 20-mm holes into a 1200-2400 pieces of MDF. So I am getting the hint.
Where did you source your's from? (p'rolly the Hafelle shop on lil Burke.. Unless 'Grass' is maker??) ...and do you have the numbers of the parts?
I like the look of that unit. What was the wood.

Fittings are 'Grass', which is the brand. Even at my 'in the trade' price, they were about $120 per pair. You can certainly use standard concealed hinges, if you use a decent stay. These flap fittings do both jobs, and they're soft close. Timber is recycled Messmate, which was supplied as 80mm x 13mm boards. I thicknessed them down to 4mm, and glued/pressed them onto both sides of a 12mm mdf substrate.

Blum do a similar fitting called aventos. I use the dd40 but with the 3mm drill bits.

Do you have the P or G, jimbo? I'd like to get a pair of 3mm bits, but they're not recommended for the P.

Thanks for sharing. Anything that takes the guess work out is a real help.
