Okay so Jonathan mentioned using a Mafell F110 guide rail on Festool's MFT/3. Any ideas on how it's done? It looks like the the rail support on the non-hinged side could be filed down to fit the Mafell rail. Perhaps a little Plastidip on the end to keep from gouging the slot in the aluminum rail? I can't figure out how to make it work on the hinged side though? The slots are way thinner on the Mafell rail so there's no way to get the Festool feather key to work. The only idea I had was to cut up a pair of Mafell guide rail clamps and use the rail ends as a makeshift feather key... I'd have to drill and tap a hole in each one to mate up to the holes on the Festool bracket. There won't be much material to thread into though and I'm really hesitant to cut up a $55 pair of clamps .

Woodie, I can't see your images, but in answer to your question, I routed my own plastic connector (feather key as you call it) from plexiglass to fit the Mafell rail slots. Then I tapped 2 screwholes and as they say, Bob's your uncle. It took quite a few attempts to get it right with the plunge router however. I imagine it's a lot easer to do with a router table. It's not pretty, but it works (so far). So as long as it holds up and doesn't crack or get sloppy, like yourself, I don't really want to cut up one of my clamps to make one from steel Although it's obviously a more preferred material. I'll see if I can snap a few pictures during the weekend. Off topic and as a bit of a sidenote, I'm not really satisfied with the MFT/3. I've been thinking of getting rid of it for some time now, in favor of a custom built table using (8020 I believe is what you call them in the US?) profiles. I find it too wobbly and small to my liking. I look forward to posting what I can come up with in the coming weeks.

I've said it before but I'm no fan of the MFT. A custom table is easy to build and can be tailored to your needs. plenty of resources and examples of custom made cross cutting stops, easily adaptable to the mafell rails.

I just sold two my two MFT tables on craigslist a few days ago. The good thing is there are a lot of spinoff designs that now makes it easier to make a better custom version. The Veritas MFT stuff, parfdogs, qwas.. even the heavy duty Beck Maschinenbau pressure units could be the basis of a souped up version.

You're welcome woodie. Glad someone is actually using the info provided Great video again, you seem really good at this youtube stuff! And thanks for the credits of course, I appreciate that I really like your solution to not having to file down the pin on the front bracket. I might use that.

Thanks again for the positive feedback! I was on the fence about posting it as I tend to over-critique myself on camera.

I will try to use instamorph to make the pin. It can be reshape with heat, so if it breaks I can do it again.
Let's see if I can do it.
Great video and ideas.
