Building a new workbench, mainly for power tool use. It's basically an 18mm melamine carcase, with castors. 25mm ply end panels, 18mm ply back panel and doors. The top is 25mm MDF, which has been CNC'd by a friend of mine. It will sit on 25mm ply 'bearers', to give clearance for clamps to pass through. The top will be edged with 25mm ply, 75mm high.
I had to bevel the underside of the holes to allow clamps to fit through.

The bearers are dowelled to the bottom of the top. DD40 made light work of it.

I trimmed the front and back edges of the top, joining two rails and using rail dogs to position the rail.
Then I clamped the ply edges to the top, then trimmed the ends of the top, cutting the edging at the same time.

Ply edges have been glued on, doors hinged and hung. Will clean up, arris edges, give a light sand, then decide if I should seal it or not. Those with MFT's - do you seal your MDF top, or not worry about it?

Lovely large work surface! I don't seal my top.

It's worth it to be able to use 25mm MDF instead of 18mm on a top this big (2400 x 1200)

Lincoln yes it won't take long just had not taught about it my top is smaller than yours 2000x1100 The other reason I went with 25mm was I was thinking the dogs would get a better fit that probably won't be the case now.

Cleaned up the ply edge, on the top, then chamfered the edges. Gave the top a sand at #120 grit. There were a few voids in the ply, so I filled them with polyurethane glue.

Drilled the holes for the hinge plates with my DD40, with 5mm bits. Gave the doors a sand, then fitted and adjusted them - I like the exposed edges of the ply showing. I used Blum 'Inserta' soft close hinges.

Nearly finished, just need to sand the chamfered edge on the top and fit some handles.

Nice job Lincoln, do you intend to cut directly on that top or use a sacrificial 6mm skin cnc cut with the same hole pattern?

Thanks Jack. At the moment it's just an assembly/sanding/routing etc. table. If I make cuts on it, I'll lay down a piece of 9mm MDF. I'm waiting to see if someone can come up with parallel guides for the Mafell tracks, and if that doesn't happen soon I'm thinking of turning it into a dedicated cutting table. I'm thinking of keeping the track in the one place on the table, with rail dogs, and having an Incra fence so I move the work piece, not the track.
Or, I get one of these
