I use the Mafell rails but wouldn't sell gaps if I had a bunch. As the 55 works with both. But if you plan on buying more mafell saws you might want to to the scales in favor of maffell's tracks.
I have no idea what i was trying to write there.... bloody phone spell check.
Honestly I don't own any festool rails. I found them a pain in the ass to connect and align, and mafell's system is kinda what tipped the scales in favour of the MT 55, not to mention the fact that I was already blown away by my KSS 300 I knew the quality and engineering Mafell accomplish.
Mafell rails are superior IMO for all the same reasons Jalvis mentions below. The ONLY advantage I see for festool rails right now is the third party jigs and attachments people are making. Hopefully we work something out here and get our own gear on the go.
Oh and have we mentioned this before........

Initially I used my Mafell with my Festool rails, but I soon found out they're not really 100% compatible. Especially for bevel cuts where the cut line isn't on the splinter guard when using Festool rails because they're 2mm thinner than the Mafell ones.
So I've fully switched to Mafell rails. I find them better anyway. Lighter, more compact and designed better. My Festool rails are relegated to a shed collecting dust.
I have the miter attachment, 3 x 80cm rails, 1 x 110cm rail mounted on an MFT/3 and 3 rail connectors. As I work on location a lot and because joining the Mafell rails is so quick & simple I dont carry any longer rails. I find them to bulky to move about.
I'm also curious to hear from the other members...

There's a heap of Festool rails in my shop collecting dust as well....I prefer the Mafell Rails. It only takes one good feature to make me change and Mafell guide rails have many. For example the splinter strip doesn't fall off and the rails connect quickly and they are more compact and the saw glides better and.....

Oh and have we mentioned this before........ The Aerofix is such a neat option. I do wish you could purchase the components without the 130 rail.

I have to agree with the idea of switching rails. I've just recently added a Mafell track saw to my collection and I'm already trying to figure out how to sell my Festool TS and rails. I like the form factor of Mafell's rails and the splinter guard seems to be a major improvement. I constantly fought peeling splinter guards on my Festool rails, until I replaced them with Makita's black splinter guard. Being able to reliably join smaller rail sections together is really appealing too. I do have the 3 meter Festool rail but try bringing that to a job site... The only Festool rail I think I'll end up keeping is my LR32 rail for hole boring.

Here's a picture I took the other day of the Festool and Mafell rails next to one another. This is the only Festool rail that I haven't switched the splinter guard out on. Not sure if you can make it out in this pic but it is peeling on the end. Attachments:

The aero fix is a need idea, it's a pity they do t sell the part that turn ordinary rails in an aero fix on its own, without having to buy the kit

I really like the Aero Fix concept but would like to see how it holds on non-finnished materials.
Isn't the Aero Fix rail different than the standard rails? I don't think the system is proprietary to the other rails. Take a closer look at the underside of the rail in the video posted.

ghostfist- thank you!! just placed my order for my mt55 today. trying to decide on rails- im sure i will end up pickin up some mafell ones. "1 x 110cm rail mounted on an MFT/3" i too would like to see how thats connected- was thinking about this same idea. also would like to see the part that turns ordinary rails into an" areo rail"sold by its self- that would help in make rail choice easier.

The aero fix kit comes with an adapter to attach onto the normal rails along with a blanking piece the air goes down the channels where your clamps go causing the suction. For the rails I think the best combination is 1/1600, 1/1100, 1/800 and the F WA angle fence. The angle fence and 1100 gives over 1200 square cut the join the other 2 rails joined gives 2400 cutting length for the sheets. Then if you are cutting say a 45 degree angle on sheets using the angle fence and the 1600 rail covers that base
