...in my case... ... and import the Mafell from Germany, and only be a few $ out of pocket ... Lincoln. Lincoln - Did you use Dictum? It takes some work to stay under 1k AUD No, used these guys - www.elektrowerkzeug-shop.net/shop.php?SessID=579ae05721d9db4bf0cd19b2442a0fb8 Highly recommended. Just send Tobias an email, and he'll sort you out. My MT55 and accessories (no rail) was comfortably under the dreaded $1000, so no customs charges. My DD40 from Timberwolf was over though, because of the price of the tool and the high shipping cost.

Well guys, after thrashing about for a few days I finally made my decision and ordered the MT55 today from Timberwolf. The new Festool cordless looked interesting but, after watching several YouTube videos I decided that the onboard bag still left a cloud of dust and I couldn't see myself changing batteries that often.
The two things that helped me decide on the MT55 vs the TS55R were the Mafell splinter strip design and the Mafell Track joining design. I ordered the 110v MT55 with the F160, F110, connector, clamp set and spare splinter guard. Now, all I have to do is sit back and wait for the Fed. Ex truck.

Nice one, Jack. You certainly won't regret it. Be keen to read your impressions, when it arrives Thanks Lincoln you and the others on this forum sure helped me make a more educated decision and I really do appreciate quality tools. I have the next few projects lined up and will get to using the saw as soon as it arrives at my shop (5 work days from tomorrow). Jack

Nice one Jacko. Make sure to give us your impressions both good and bad. Can't wait to hear your thoughts. Keep in mind that this is my first "real" track saw. Previously I have been using my Porter Cable Worm Drive Model 314 trim saw with something like a 42 tooth carbide blade and a long straight piece of plywood (trimmed on my jointer) to break down full sheets of plywood. Anything with dust collection will be a great improvement but i think I'm really going to enjoy the Mafell saw. I'll give you all an update at the end of next week when I get the new saw. Jack

Since it was a heavily debated purchase for you, I really look forward to hearing your findings and whether or not it lives up to your expectations, jacko. I'm sure you're aware of this, but dust collection is more effective using a 36mm hose vs a 27mm hose.

You may need some clamps... Apparently the Bosch ones work. I got Bosch rails and added and extra from an MFT. Interested to hear how it goes for you. Regards, Randal

I did buy a set of clamps with my saw and the 27mm vs 36mm hose efficiency I'm going to have to balance against hose stiffness. I have both Festool hose sizes so I'll be trying then to see which gives me the best dust control without hanging up on edges while cutting. The only thing I'm still thinking about is if I should have purchased two F-160 guide rails along with the F-110?

If you plan on investing in another rail, go for an Aerofix I say

If you plan on investing in another rail, go for an Aerofix I say Yeah, I decided to add the Position Indicator and hold off on the guide rail until I decide if I want the Aerofix (which looks pretty nice). Did I see a video on here that shows adjusting the MT55 on the F -Track? I would like to make sure that there is little play in the rip cuts I'll be making and I was wondering how lose or tight the fit is with the MT55 and F-Track?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but the amount of play on the guide rail is fully adjustable. You can set it to whatever you prefer. There are 2 knurled knobs on the baseplate of the saw that allow you to dial it in.

Thanks - that was what I was looking for.
