Made this simple jig for positioning my DD40, when drilling dowels for cabinet work. It allows you to drill a pair of holes anywhere across your work piece, then to position when drilling the mating part. Hopefully the photo's make sense!
The end of the adjustable stops are in line with the centre of the drill bits, so you simply align them with a centre line. Only really need one stop, the second is to make it easier to line up with your set out. Attachments:

You then lay the jig on the other piece, to position the DD in the right spot, and drill as normal. Important that you are centred for these holes, which is easy with the DD40. Perfect fit.

So Lincoln, how's the DD40 working out for you? Are you happy with the purchase?

Yes, Jonathan, very happy. Have used it a lot, both at work and home. It's so easy to use and there are no concerns regarding accuracy - spot on, every time. Still not sure if I should get the rail for it. I am sure that I want the 16mm bits for it, they're just so expensive though.

Might meet most of your needs at a better price point.

Awesome jig! I do not own a DD40, but it has always intrigued me and a great tool to supplement the Domino. Very cool!

You're right, 12mm would cover almost everything, but for larger items, like doors, the 16mm would be handy. Price of the bits and availability of 16mm fluted dowels are putting me off though.

I ended up going for the cmt bits as where half the price. I also do buy mafell 16mm dowels when needed that's only because the amount I need doesn't justify buying a hole load to sit about and be dead stock

I was talking to our Leitz rep the other day, and ordered a pair of 5mm bits. Will report back re. the quality. $20 each. Unfortunately they only go up to 10mm.

Any jigs for shelf-pin holes that you have been using?

No, we have a Blum Mini-Press at work, so do all my drilling on that. I want the 5mm bits for drilling hinge plate holes, when I don't have shelf holes to drill - easier than setting up the Mini-Press just for that. Haven't checked yet, but should be able to use it for drilling drawer fronts as well, when using the Blum Tandembox etc. drawers.

Very cool. Interested in hearing how it works out for drawer fronts.
