Since I've moved from working with the shooting crew, I've been in a harness more and more. Be it on scissor or boom lifts, or unprotected roof structures. Productions normally supply specialized safety equipment, but the cheapo "safety in a bucket" harness doesn't cut the mustard for me. I recently picked up this Petzl gear, and highly recommend it as far as comfort, adaptability, and ease of use. They're not cheap, but your life should be worth the cost.
Check it out

It's not something I have to use. Yet if I did I would want the most comfortable I could find and the very best

I've worked on some pretty steep roofs in my time in "real world" construction, when I plan on going back to it, I'll be better equipped.

I got my Owen Petzl gear a while back I don't like using it but if you have to it is the best If you are using a harness the right fitting is most important. I you's to put it on because I had to but after a video on badly fitted harness I now make sure they are fitted right I will lock for the link and post

Jesus bloody hell. So happy with my purchase. I always felt it's good to show a bit of a horror show to drive the safety message home. I'd like to keep my guts not bursting out of my asshole Thank you very much. Thanks for the vid

Wonderful GhostFist, thanks for sharing! My last employer placed me in charge of safety for the other carpenters so it was an enlightening experience learning about fall protection, particularly at a time when OSHA was beginning to enforce it for smaller residential companies. Like you said, after a few weeks in a harness that came in a bucket I was ready to buy my own. Luckily that coincided with the time I struck out on my own, and I've purposefully chosen a path where I rarely go up on roofs or other heights. Still, I'm sure the odd job will come along that requires a high wire act, and it's great to stay abreast of the products available.

Last week I was wearing the cheap stuff and today I'm in my new avao. Well worth the price. Maneuverability is excellent. It's very comfortable, lots of well placed padding. Easy to put on and take off. Lots of places to clip tools to and adaptability for different tie off points. I'm also infinitely more confident that this rig will do a better job of actually saving my life should that situation arise. High quality product.

Petzl makes some great gear. I have a friend that runs zipline tours on the Big Island of Hawaii and all there gear is Petzl. I did the tour and its amazing how comfortable the harness was. Didnt even notice wearing it.
