I have postponed the change for quite so time.
I have the 2 dominos and I don't like the DF500, the XL is different it is a better tool.
I had the chance to buy the DD40 so many times and always at the last moment I said NO. I will try to use it the Domino.
The small domino fault is that it doesn't have enough mass to balance the vibration generated by the motor. It has to rotate and move left to right and that creates movement and the potential slide of the tool.
I am always fighting it and I really I don't enjoy using it. The XL is different is heavy and well made, you don't feel the weight, unless you keep it holding it by itself for quite some time.
I made my time and I will try to make my woodworking time more enjoyable. It is my hobby and a hobby is for pleasure, not to "#$#$@$"
, you know what I mean.
If you read my previous post about the P1CC and furniture making, I talked about moving and I will need to keep only the tools that I will really use and need. Many suggestion about keeping the bandsaw.
Well, I didn't kept the bandsaw, I trade the old 14" Rikon for a Hammer N4400.
It is a dream machine. I was using it and that remind me about how to enjoy my hobby. It is a pleasure and I look forward to use it.
Then, I remembered the Domino, grrrrr!!!!
. That was the moment that I decided, it has to go.
I will put the Domino on Ebay this weekend and get the DD40G.
I found one DD40 from Germany in Ebay new one (it looks like is a company selling it for US$ 684.69 plus US $57.15 shipment).
That is the DD40 G with just the 8mm bits, 220 V. It is a little cheaper that the other packages. (US$ 898.50)
I don't know how much will be for customs if any, so the decision to make is buy from Timberwolf vs the potential saving of buying from Germany. The difference is 196.13, If I have to pay customs, I would guess around 100.00, then the savings won't be that much for the hassle of waiting 30 days and hoping everything is ok.
I have 220 V in my garage so I can use it right away, when I move I will have to buy one of those 110 to 220 converters just in case rental place doesn't have the 220V. I will use it the transformer for my bandsaw as well.
Another decision.
