I was framing walls today and wanted to see if the kss 80 would struggle when gang cutting 2 x 4's. I started with two and then quickly went up to six without a hint of hesitation. I used to use the 8 1/4 skil worm drive for gang cutting so after i finished my crosscut, i actually double checked that i went through all six 2 x's and not just the three on top.

Hi erik I have had my kss 80 for about 6 months I have cut 3.25 old dry fir with no problem cut off as well as ripping. Very happy with power performance every time I've used this saw. Yesterday I was gang dado 3"/1 1/2" in 11 hardwood 2" stock preformed perfect. i love this saw only wished my kss400 had the same blade guard control an depth lever.

Hey R cash,
Initially, I was drawn to the 80 after spending a summer snagging the 400's blade guard against my cutting platform. Unfortunately, I though the blade guard could be locked in the upright position when sawing as well as when changing the blade, Oh well, safety first I suppose.
I am happy to report, the 80 cuts through four stacked sheets of plywood with minimal effort. I was using the 12 tooth blade and the parallel fence so there were slight inconsistencies with the cut line, but that could be more a function of operator error. What a pleasure to rip to rip 24 lengths of 6-10 inch pieces in just a few minutes.
And just so I don't spread misinformation, you'll need the roller edge guide for rips under 7 1/2".

This saw has power to spare. I get good results with the 24 tooth blade too and use that for most things. I did switch back to the ripping blade on some walnut that had a lot of tension in it and pinched the blade. It has been great so far.

Last week I was cutting some 80+yr old Doug fir with the kss80 plug into a ct22 vac that was great but I trip a 20 amp breaker twice. So I slowed my feed rate down and got my job done . Kss 80 =power hog I love it so. Have a great day Rc

Not sure what the throughput rating is on the cts. Perhaps a direct connection to the outlet from the saw would prevent tripping? Just a guess.
