Ya definitely kills the lr32 system. Question, is the center og the drill bits marked on the edge of the dd40? your mortise center is not marked on the domino and this is another thing that ticks me off about it. A cheapo dewalt biscuit joiner has this marking, why cant the domino?

So, If sell my LR32 and DF500, I can recup some money, pay for the DD40 and put the rest on the bank. It sounds a great deal to me.

The dd40 has several marks to help with alignment, you have a plastic screen which has three lines the middle line is the dead centre between the two drill bits the other two lines are the centres of where the drill bits are. Then if you come along a little bit on the casting there is an indentation relating to where the edge of the push pins are. So if you where doing a mid rail of a door for example you just slide the edge of your mid Rail upto to the pins on the left and then the right then on your stiles just mark the outside edges of the mid rail then using the indentations on the cast relating to the pins drill your holes. Also on the side of the cast are other indents giving the centre of the drill bits. At the weekend I used the dd40 to make up a couple of 4 panel doors the job was done in just over an hour ready for gluing up that including cutting the materials to length setting up the tools. The reason I got a dd40 instead of a dommino is I felt I would be tied to using festool domminos where dowels can be picked up cheaply saying that though I did get some dowel rod from b&q and it didn't match the diameter it said. I have only really used the mafell dowels I think there not to bad on price if needing an on od box but if you are needing a lot then buying bulk seems to be the way to go it's just that a lot of them combines that sell that quantity have a minimum order I plan to make another door using the doweler in the future so will make a video of doing the job from start to finish

that's all good news to me. In regards to being tied to purchasing festool dominos, it's not that difficult to make our own, that being said they are readily available here and reasonably priced I think.

Yes, but I have both dominos (DF500 and DF700). I think replacing the DF500 with the DD40 can be a good move.

I would say you're right there. larger domino for huge tennons and DD40 for the majority of work. though as jonathan pointed out you can bore for some pretty big dowels with the dd40!

After owning the DD40 and the domino 500 I would trade the domino 500 for the 700. That is a winning combination!
