Ok, I realise this is a big shot in the dark, but you never know. I'm looking to buy a DD40P. Must be in excellent condition and complete. Sooooo, maybe you have one and find you aren't using it as much as you thought or maybe the red clashes with your socks or ..........well y'know. Like I said, it's a shot in the dark but as me ol' mum used to say...you never know until you ask.

Unless I'm mistaken, the electrical won't be compatible in Canada.

Electrical should be fine you just need to swap the plug.just note 220 or 110v I'm not so sure about that. Germany runs at 50hz and North America runs at 60hz. It would run fast.

Many things aren't happy when they don't get the voltage/frequency they were designed for. In the case of 50hz devices running on 60hz, the motor will run faster, but the cooling can actually be better. It depends on the motor and the load. I've read if the voltage is increase/decreased in proportion to frequency, it's okay to increase(or decrease). Ghostfist reports that it works for his MT55, so the cuprex motors may not be so picky. Having said all that: I see they are often listed as 'universal' motors. Maybe that means that it can run on either 50 or 60. Here's an LO65 that they say is 50/60hz. I haven't been able to find a listing like that from Mafell or anything that looks like an "authorized" reseller.

Personally, I think I'd pay the 20% more and buy a new one from Timberwolf. I say 20%, because that's the best I saw after a quick search. With Ghostfix's experience and 40% or better discount, I may be tempted. Well, if we could verify that's what 'Universal' motor means, it's not really a problem.

If you look on timberwolf. The mt55 is listed as universal. The dd40 at 60hz. Direct contact with mafell might be best though I'm sure they'll want you to go through the official distributor.

Never had problems with these through the years. Didn't get a chance to look at our other mafell machines.

Most universal motors are made for 50 hz/60 hz. I think that induction motors is where you can run into issues with 50 hz on 60 hz power -- they will run fast and hot and potentially this lessons the service life. Most universal motors I have seen are dual rated.
