Here's a gun cabinet I built for the local ambulance service hunting lodge last summer. 8/4 Sinker cypress exterior, pecky cypress interior, dimmable led lighting, spalted sycamore base. The hardware is hand forged in France. I hand cut all traditional mortise and tenons for the doors and face frame and used 256 gram strength hide glue throughout. The finish is super blonde shellac I mixed up from flakes and then waxed over. I frosted the lodges' logo into the door glass. There is a hidden access door on the interior to access the led dimmer controls. I also turned a gaboon ebony bolt hole insert for the flush door bolt.

Wow- that is a really impressive project. I bet that was a fun one that took some time & attention. I like the use of not only all the different wood species but also all the different techniques. That live edge spalted sycamore is really cool.
It also looks really good installed. You matched/personalized it to their existing site perfectly.
I see your Barr cabinet makers chisel set there in that last picture. I just got mine about a week ago, haven't used them yet but they feel great.

Very nice work and truly a custom job.
How deep is the box? Does it stay in the wall cavity or does it protrude into a closet or something? With the light wood inside and the LEDs it gives an illusion that the box is deeper than it really is. Very cool.

7...glad to see your Barr order arrived. That was quick being a custom order if I recall correctly.
Jalvis...I believe the box was approximately 14" deep. Yes it is recessed into a very thick wall.
Thanks for the nice comments.

Yeah nice work I take it most people will store there guns in cabinets like this. In the uk the gun license people would get upset if guns where displayed. We are only allowed to store in a metal case which has to be bolted to a brick or concrete slab. I like your tenon saw looks cool
