The dust port has a 35mm interior measurement but I see many folks using the Festool 36mm hose. Does the rubber tool end compress to fit the 35mm opening? I need to use what I have for the time being, which is a ridgid vac with vortex separator. The ridgid has 2.25" outside diam hoses so I am trying to decide if I need a new hose or if I can get by with a 35mm to 2.25" adapter.

Well it doesn't depend much on the hose itself, but rather on the rubber nozzle end.
A 36mm diameter Festool hose nozzle fits over the dust port (on the outside). A 27mm diameter Festool hose nozzle fits inside the dust port. A 35mm diameter Starmix/Mafell hose nozzle also fits inside.

I have a Fein vac/hose and still cannot get a tight fit. Are these measurements ID or OD of the hose nozzles? Is there a special fitting for Fein? I can't find one available in the US. All suggestions welcome.

checkmax, could you post a picture so we can see exactly what vac and hose you have?

The Mafell/Starmix 35mm hose uses the same rubber end as a Festool D27 hose. As Jonathan said, D27 hose ends fit inside, D36 hoses fit outside. I can't speak to the Fein hoses, but I get a very nice, tight seal with the rubber hose ends on my Festool and Metabo hoses.

checkmax, could you post a picture so we can see exactly what vac and hose you have? Sorry for the delay here and I appreciate the input. It's been some time before I could pull everything out again. I attach 3 photos. I have the Fein hose, the step adapter and the MT55. The problem I am having is the Fein hose slips out of the Mafell attachment. I can't get it to snug up. I thought the velcro strap that was there was to tighten the fit but I realised the Mafell plastic doesn't constrict at all. So I pulled it off and tied it to power cord and keep the cord neatly coiled when not in use. I have the Fein step adapter but that doesn't help either. Is this the kind of fit we should expect. The hose inevitable falls off the saw with any light drag in mid cut. Very annoying. I haven't seen the Festool hose so I don't know how the system differs. Maybe I should get/find an adapter which makes the Fein hose end a female connector rather than a male as is the case now? thanks

I'd like an adapter that goes over it as well instead of inside. I am using the bosch hoses with no issue, I would just like to open up the port instead of necking it down. Maybe it doesn't matter. These adapters from Bosch fit snuggly but you would then half to adapt to them. Untitled by thedude306, on Flickr

Do you have part number for those adapters?

Do you have part number for those adapters? I can't find a part number or any reference to them from bosch. They come with certain bosch tools but not all. I think I got them with my jigsaw. I will keep my eyes open for them and let you know if I can find a part number.
