Been doing some research on boring bits. Looks like CMT(among others) offer boring bits in 2 or 4 fluted options. There doesn't seem to be a description as to why or what application one is better suited for. So what do you think? I contacted CMT in the USA and they didn't know and are waiting on a response from headquarters in Italy. Two Flute: Four Flute:

In theory four flutes should clear scarf better and produce a cleaner cut.

Thats logical but if thats true then why produce a 2 flute option. If both have the same amount of cutters(2) and spurs(2) but one clears better and cuts cleaner it doesn't makes sense to produce an option that is inferior. Especially since the price difference is negligible.
Just trying to make sense of it.

The picture in the thread shows both bits. Only difference is the amount of flutes.
