Congrats. You will be surprised with all kinds of details once you get the kit in use.

MT 55, rails, etc. arrived yesterday. All were packed securely and arrived in good condition! For some reason, the saw always appeared to me to be on the larger side but in reality it is average and fits my "medium" sized hands well. The saw seems built very well and that quick blade change method is very nice. The rail bag is built tough with a heavy duty fabric and nice large zippers and pulls. The ends of the bag have what I guess is a flexible plastic "sandwiched" in between the fabric that bends around the top and bottom which will protect the rails from slight jarring. (Nice detail) Hopefully get to some actual use this weekend when time allows. Just curious if you have started using the saw yet? I am guessing not or you probably would have posted about it

My work is at its peak along with baseball practice for my son, choir for my daughter, and trying to get a new house built makes for some tiring weeks! I am not complaining, I feel very blessed! With that said, i did manage to trim all the splinter guards on my rails and angle guide yesterday as well as a few test cuts. Saw performed as expected. Very well! I adapted my Ridged hose for the saw and due to its bulk I may opt for a festool or Mafell hose instead. It's a little cumbersome and I don't have a boom arm to help with this. Dust extraction will have to be upgraded in the future. I also think the f80 rail would be a good option for using the angle guide.

I'm looking for a new hose for my vac though I prefer to use the aerofix when ever possible. Might got with the larger diameter Festool non anti static hose for improved airflow.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. Any recommendations/thoughts on these accessories? I read the tips above regarding rail sizes: Saw blades - 48 tooth is standard; experience/uses with the other counts - 32, 24, 16? Splinter guard F-SS - I assume this is part of the rail and is a replacement item Non-slip profile F-HP - not sure about this one Angle fence F-WA - planning on adding this Stop F-AS (kick back stop) - anybody find a need for this? Position indicator MT-PA - not sure about this one also?
Thanks

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. Any recommendations/thoughts on these accessories? I read the tips above regarding rail sizes: Saw blades - 48 tooth is standard; experience/uses with the other counts - 32, 24, 16? Have used them all. All good blades. 16 is good for ripping, 24 is good for that also. 32 feels very similar to the 48 to me...probably a little less drag on the saw.Splinter guard F-SS - I assume this is part of the rail and is a replacement item The rubber part that touches the bladeNon-slip profile F-HP - not sure about this one This is the two rubber strips on the bottom of the rail Angle fence F-WA - planning on adding this Stop F-AS (kick back stop) - anybody find a need for this? I have never had any kick back. I have cut both ply & lumberPosition indicator MT-PA - not sure about this one also? The side of the saw has two red marks that indicate the place where the cut starts and ends with the blade at full depth. The position indicator attaches to the saw so the marks can be adjusted to show where the blade starts & stops with the saw set at other depths besides full depth. I don't need it for my work (yet anyway) but that is what it is so that you can decide for yourself. Thanks

I think you can get this saw in different configurations from Mafell...they package/bundle some if these accessories into different kits if I am not mistaken.

Unfortunately the sole US distributor/dealer doesn't offer any kit or combo packages.

I think they do through Mafell tool store...there is an item number and pricing. They may have to order it in, but it is a good savings on some of the configurations.

My last communication with David at Timberwolf on this was that kits were no longer available and he sells everything "a la carte" (his words). I suspect it's less inventory to hold kits; though I would think rail kits would be a great way to introduce the products to new users. On the other hand, if you're the only seller I guess you can set the market price. I'm seriously looking at Toolstop rail kit which allows me to purchase the same items plus the Angle Fence for the same price.

I'm just a bit worried about buying into a tool brand with only one supplier in the USA and a language barrier with the factory if that supplier went out of business. Timberwolf's policy of not offering the same bundling as other Mafell suppliers (outside of the USA) is troubling and when I add up the price of the "a la carte" offerings, I wonder if the MT55 is worth the price?
Does anybody know if the Festool TS55 R will work in the Mafell F Track?
Jack

No Jack, it can't. Really sounds like you should get the TS55 - it's still a damn good saw. Not as good as the MT55, but way ahead of the others in my opinion. If you did get a TS55, I'd get some Makita splinter strip and use that instead of the Festool one. Again, nowhere near the F Track, but better than the Festool strip.
