I got to admit, I'm not a huge fan of cordless saws. i've yet to see a high end one like these in use though. Still I prefer constant uninterrupted power when sawing, cordless I still fell is light duty.

From my research the Mafell and Hilti cordless saws are really good units. There are lots of times I would like to have a cordless saw.
My only concern is in the long run with any cordless unit. Eventually the battery will need replaced and as long as the manufacturer will continue selling new ones or old ones can get rebuilt I would be ok with a cordless saw.
I've also been told that the Dewalt 36v is decent but everyone with lots of experience recommends the Mafell or Hilti.
You really should think of cordless saws like cordless drills. Cordless drills haven't replaced corded versions but I wouldn't be without a cordless.

Found an excellent review of 36v cordless saws on holzverk blog can't figure out how to do link but it was saying a full battery would have to capacity to cut 100m of 18mm Mdf pretty impressive

I think the 400 would be the most versatile. Be interested on your feedback if you do pick one up

Just had a look the nma agencies catalogue the price is £1235 still ouch the best think to do is to speak to Nathan at NMA it doesn't matter where you buy mafell in the uk is to it all comes through him he will give discounts to get a sale you can only ask. Personally getting the cordless saws are only worth it if you are struggling to get power

Used the hilti cordless 22v cordless for the first time. It's not my own I can personally say I wouldnt buy. The only good thing is no cable. I needed to take off the blade to Remove plastic fibers from the waterproof layer used to protect the flooring from the weather. I don't know if normal but when I lifted off the plate the blade sits on and leaving the drive shaft I could see the bearings meaning there was no obvious seal and a gap the grease could be lost through and where dust can also get in and wreck the bearings. I felt a bit bad for the young lad who owns it. I understand that mafell is expensive and costs 3 times as much and not everybody can afford. It does disappoint me when companies like hilti do no make sure there bearings are sealed. It's basic stuff. Also as people will know I've changed job get power seems to be hard work only way is cordless or generator. I have sent mafell email suggesting a cordless kss300 with built on dust extraction for doing internal finishings. Here is the reply I got back from mafell. Our KSS 400, 36 V would be definitely the perfect solution for you. Up to now we do not have the smaller machine, i.e KSS 300 in a cordless version. However we plan to expand our range of cordless machines but up to now we are not able to state any delivery times nor which types of machines will be added.
Sounds like they are developing cordless tools obviously can't say when it's getting released
