I just picked up a new EVA150E/5 sander cheap on promotion - very smooth and stable, it has a decent weight to it. Tried it with some Festool Granat 80 paper on some rough sawn palette wood - very quickly smoothed it up, no fighting or vibration. Got if for sanding wood, so happy with the purchase.

Yep - nice little family!..
I've said before, I started out with Elu tools when they were one of the best brands around, still got 3 Elu tools that are going strong after 30 years...
Mafell are the only other brand I have found that I get the same feeling they'll still be going in 20 years time - some of the Festools are good too, but really not in the same league - in my opinion. So if I need a tool that Mafell make - I'll buy it; if a tool comes up as a promotion and I don't really need it - I'll probably buy it too and find a use for it.
As much as I love the Mirka sanders - I get the feeling the Mafell sander will still be working long after the Mirkas have retired.

Have you heard of Scheer?
Have you worked with the Mirka DEROS? I'm curious how it compares to the Mafell besides the obvious differences in size and weight/weight distribution. I have the Mafell and I'm every time impressed how little vibration there is. The most vibration I get is from the hose.

I have three Mirka sanders - the 125/150mm 5mm orbit; 150 2,5mm orbit; rectangular approx 70 x 130 3mm orbit - great sanders, the last one is just an orbital so can leave swirly marks, but of course that's why rotary orbitals are so good... not a lot of choice on a rectangular sander though!
I have the Rotex 150 for heavy sanding, was at the point of ditching before I tried the hard backing pad - this is what the sander should be sold with!.. loads more control, but it can be agressive, more so with the hard backing pad.
So the EVA was to fill the gap between the Mirkas and the Rotex.
Heard of Scheer, also Rupes - but a lot of poor reliability stories for Rupes on the internet, maybe this is just for the iNano I was looking at... this was instead of the mini Mirka that is eye wateringly expensive... so instead I have been looking at the Flex PXE80 cordless mini sander/polisher... it can wait for now.

I found the Rotex 150 can be very tame but also a little busy depending on the combination of paper and pad. And the surface of course. Have you used the 125? Or the 90? I find the 90 really hard to control. In any case I use the Rotex as short as possible only if I think the faster progress is worth the noise and vibration.
How does the Mirka 150/5 compare to the EVA regarding vibration? So far the Eva and Uva are the sander with the least amount of vobration I used. Sometimes there is literaly no noticable vibration.

Mirka may be a bit more than UVA115" but not very much.
