hi everyone long time lurker but new member.
Just bought the kss50 and also the longer 770 rail to cross cut 600mm wide pine timber boards.
I made the mark on the wood lined up the rail and its cutting about 1.5-2mm away from the cutting line (900mm mark, 902mm cut)
Anyone own one of these? did you have to make a cut in the red rubber rail guide when you got it, or was it pre-cut too short like mine. I have bosch FSN and mafell rails and i always have to cut the rubber so its in line with the width of the saw blade you have installed 1.8mm on the mafell.

I don't own one, wish I did. This has been discussed before. Apparently Mafell ships the kss50 as you received yours.
Enjoy your new saw.
John
Edit: I was wrong, it was a kss60cc that was discussed. Have a look at the review of a kss60cc by hecon5 in the kss 60cc folder.

Thanks for answering this for me john, I looked at the post you mentioned and indeed the kss50/60 is pre-cut.
I am baffled as to why they would do this, you buy a track saw to cut to a line, not 2mm out. So they have had over a grand of my money and now they want me to fork out another £25 for a new splinter guard on day one of ownership.
Im sure once i get past my rage and have it set up correctly i will enjoy it.

Apparently that's the way German carpenters like their cross cut saws? I agree with you, I'd want the saw to cut on the mark. I'm sure once you get over your disappointment you'll enjoy it.
Welcome to the forum.

The only reason for it can be for the German carpenters preference. I have to say, all other reasons seem ridiculous. "the saw running noticeably slower" possibly the worst reason of all. I have experienced no problem using the mt55 and track cut exactly to the line. I was looking at radial arm saws to speed up the process of cutting panels for cabinets, i just didn't have the room in the workshop, and worried about there accuracy, so this was really the best option for me. Maybe they should put a spare splinter guard in the box to satisfy all us non German users. Now what do the Germans do once the splinter guard gets damaged or worn out? will they have to find a thick 4mm kerf blade for trimming it down. I presume they use the same splinter guard on these tracks as the standard Bosch/Mafell tracks i use for the mt55

If you're used to running the strip 2mm from the blade, it probably never gets worn out!.. I've done some trimming on the F-rails with the KSS60 on some old wood - it chews up the splinter strip pretty fast.

After some practice, I got alright with the accuracy on mine. I haven't replaced the strips, and don't know if I will.
For what I use it, "Kentucky windage" works fine for me, and doesn't beat up the strip.
I use it mostly for framing, where I can just bump the KSS over a hair if I really need that mm off.
If I am feeling extra persnickety or I need extra accuracy, an SCMS can't be beat for anything below a 2x4. Above, just cut long and trim by hairs til you get there.
I really like it for what it is: beefy, solid, reliable, more accurate than any other saw in its size class, and for anything not requiring super high accuracy: quite unparalleled.
It's a heavy beast though, so I still think I might get either a KSS300 or try a battery out, someday.

I've done some trimming on the F-rails with the KSS60 on some old wood - it chews up the splinter strip pretty fast. True that. It might in part be because the KSS-saws don't have adjustments (like the MT55 has) to limit the play on the rail. I've snugged mine up by adding some 0.15 mm PTFE-tape to the runner on the KSS rail. It does not help when running it on the F-rails though so I try to remember to only use it on one particular F-track that’s somewhat beaten up already..
