In Western Australia there are Jarrah "Buss poles" which are 6-8 meter long telephone pole sized whole tree trunks. These are usually dried whole rather tan dinemnsioned to squares first. Any ideas on how to dimension dried poles ?

You want to make them square?.. I suppose it depends what tools you have to accomplish the task... can you make a chainsaw sled?

I've seen some, and read about rip chains. just unsure as to whether they cut dry timber and what to use to hold the chain saw? Do the parallel sides just use plywood edge up to provide a love strainght 8m sides?

I think it will be a home made job... drill the chain guide to fix it I guess, a lot already have holes in... then some sort of wooden track either side of the pole. Won't be a problem being dry.
